Why Did We Lose The Art Of Dressing Up?
I t was my wedding anniversary recently. Hubby booked a table at a smart Thai restaurant in the centre of Birmingham which gave me the opportunity to have a nice night out without being covered in chocolate and baked beans courtesy of baba. So I dressed the part. channelling the spirit of Audrey Hepburn with a touch of Michelle Obama for good measure, I chose a lovely fifties style monochrome floral print dress with a full skirt and tie waistband ( a charity shop bargain for £6), and accessorised with my favourite red office peep toes and red bow clutch bag that was a present from my sister. Chandelier earrings…

Christmas fashion inspiration from the Celebs
It seems an age since I’ve done one of my favourite sort of posts, a celebrity style one, and so I’ve decided that, as we are moving towards the end of another year, I would focus on some of my favourite celeb looks from the Winter so far. I think 2014 has been a pretty vintage year in terms of stunning red carpet and off duty looks, and I’m sure to be featuring lots of my favourite 2014 looks in another post before we reach December 31st, but this post is looking at some of the glamorous evening looks that have featured in end of year Jingle Bell festivities. Blue is most definitely the colour this season
If you want to update your wardrobe in the simplest way possible this season, add a touch of blue. Blue is most definitely the colour to be seen in, in any of the many shades of blue. From the azure sea shades, to the deepest of midnight blue, to royal blues and turquoise, all the shades are covered and styled, in so many different shades. The celebrities are wearing it so well at the moment and offering divine fashion inspiration. Model of the moment Cara Delevingne shows that bronze is the perfect colour to clash with your cornflower blue shades. Lana Del Rey should be singing her rendition of ‘Blue…

Jason Wu – S/S 12 – Oh so pretty!
One of my New York Fashion Week favourites, Jason Wu, unveiled his latest collection yesterday, and the collection could be summed up with a single statement ‘Oh So Pretty’. The designer, one of Michelle Obama‘s favourites, produced a collection that was gorgeously feminine, supremely elegant and totally girly – all of which is music to my ears. Full of peachy pinks and coral tones, using the wispiest of chiffons and silks, this was a collection for those who really wished to embrace the pretty side of their style personality. Harking back to the 1950s days of Balenciaga and Jacques Fath, there were pieces in this collection that would have graced…

A summer of Roksanda Ilincic
In the month she unveiled her 2012 Cruise collection with the brief ‘Effortless Glamour’ it seems fitting that Serbian Born, London-based designer Roksanda Ilincic should transfer some of that glamour to the High Street. Her first capsule collection for Debenhams has just been launched, under the RI label. This is an evening wear collection made up of five different styles of dress, from chic cocktail styles to full length and fabulous draped gowns. After viewing the collection, I can truly say that I’m in love. Using a pallet of black and white as a base, this is a stunning collection of utterly wearable yet totally glamorous dresses. From chic but…
