Caro Emerald – Style Queen
When I look at my blog stats at the end of each month, there is always one post that sticks out, a post that consistently gets massive viewing figures despite being almost 2 years old. That post is all about the amazing singer, and, in my eyes at the very least, style icon, Caro Emerald. Caro Emerald demands your attention in so many ways. A statuesque, utterly curvy goddess, Caro has a style that is more akin to Old Hollywood than modern-day diva’s like Jessie J and Rihanna. The Dutch singer has a retro style that is glamorous, intoxicating and just a little dangerous, looking like a cross between a…

P is for Paloma Faith
I’m spending the evening trying to persuade my hubby that the best birthday present I could receive this year would be Paloma Faith tickets for her June 7th gig at the O2. It would be true to say I’m more than a little obsessed with the singer, her sublime voice is the sort that could sell you a nursery rhyme, whilst her style combines the best of the quirky, the unique and the decidedly retro, sort of what would happen if Rita Hayworth had been combined with Minnie Mouse. Even when we consider all the beautiful and stylish, and mega talented female singers we have on the music scene at…

The Benefits of Recycling Your Old Music and Films
Few people have been left unaffected by the recession. A massive credit crunch has only added to budgetary burdens. If you’ve whittled away extra expenses and are still finding yourself in a financial crisis, the internet could provide you with the extra cents you need to get through the month. It may even help you to chip away at a giant mound of debt. The Web’s move towards re-commerce has introduced some interesting new options for creative spendthrifts. The DVDs and CD’s you’ve listened to one too many times would probably be considered treasures by cinemaphiles and music fans who share your taste in films and music. Finding buyers has…

1978 style icons – Kate Bush and Debbie Harry
Hurray! The ‘Top of the Pops’ 1970s reruns are back, and this year the focus is on 1978. The introductory series ‘The Story of 1978’ was shown on BBC4 last night and got my very excited about this years focus, as it was the year that two of my absolute, all time style icons really found fame. I’m talking of course about Blondie’s Debbie Harry and the inimitable, unique Kate Bush. These two ladies helped change the perception of female singers. Not mere puppets or sex objects, they were woman in control, talented females whose music and personal style have stood the test of time. Kate was just 18 when…

Girls Aloud are back!
Ok – My top five girls aloud songs, in no particular order, are as follows -‘ The Sounds of the Underground’, ‘Love Machine’. ‘The Promise’, ‘Biology’ and ‘The Show’. I am just a massive Girls Aloud fan. Solo, not so much. I Like the odd Cheryl song, love Nicola and her sense of style, and Kimberly is just so beautiful, but that’s about it. But together they create unmistakable magic. So I was just so excited yesterday by the news that the girls are reforming for a new album and tour. The style of the girls who appeared at the press conference yesterday was a far cry from the…
