Competition Time with Fashion-Mommy and Phase Eight
This month sees Fashion-Mommy celebrating its third birthday. The blog I started as a hobby to help me get through some tough times is still here and fighting fit. And, in celebration of this fact, the month of August is going to be very busy on the site, filled with news, product reviews and competitions from some of my favourite brands. We’re starting off with one of my favourite brands, Phase Eight. Phase Eight are the must visit destination for Hollywood style glamour. It is a brand that creates the ultimate in ‘dressy’ dresses, the sort of gowns that are perfect for all manner of special occasions. From weddings to…

Dress season from Phase Eight – Ladies Day dressing solved
I am very excited to say I’m going to the Aegon Classic ladies day at the Edgbaston Priory Club as a guest of the club. Ladies Day is always a glamorous occasion when women dig out their summer finery and seriously dress to impress. And with Royal Ascot and Wimbledon also coming up in the next few weeks, it is clear that beautiful dresses are going to be a very important part of our summer wardrobe. Phase Eight should, therefore, be a major calling point on any shopping trip. Their range of dresses this season are quite simply stunning, with styles ranging from 1950s full-skirted, to slinky column styles. There…

Great Gatsby Fever with Collection 8
It is almost here. The most anticipated film for both movie buffs and fashionista’s is set to be launched at the Cannes Film festival. Now we are waiting to see what Carey Mulligan and Leonardo Di Caprio bring to the roles. The released stills from the movie, the trailer…

New season dresses – Are you a Grace or a Marilyn?
In my view, the 1950s were the golden era of the dress. In those days, before jeans became a major part of the wardrobe, dresses were worn for every occasion, from neat shirtwaisters in cotton that were the form of most day dresses, to the full on glamour of the evening gowns worn for all post cocktail hour events. No adding a glittering top to a pair of jeans for our grandmother’s generation – these ladies fully understood the art of dressing up. This spring, Phase Eight have produced their usual range of beautiful dresses and I have noticed a definite 1950s Hollywood slant to the designs. In fact, I…

Collection 8 from Phase Eight – new season
Following on from the gorgeous first collection last year, Phase Eight has launched it’s second Collection 8. It is a truly beautiful range of evening dresses, once again seeming to have come directly from the wardrobe of Constance Bennett, Kay Francis or any one of those beautiful 1930s Screen Goddesses. These are the perfect occasion dresses. Whether it be for a black tie event, prom, ball, or evening for a wedding, these are the dresses that have been designed to make the room turn around and say wow! Beautiful lace and beadwork, exquisite tapework and devore detailing, these dresses do not disappoint. Click here to visit Phase Eight.
