Jingle Belles – The Spice Girls, X Factor and a bit of Girls Aloud.
Even as the year draws to a close, we still have time to feast our eyes on a host of wonderful looks, as those Christmas events come rolling in thick and fast. Last weekend alone saw the Capital Radio Jingle Bells Ball featuring the newly reformed Girls Aloud and girl of the year Rita Ora amongst others, whilst the X Factor final saw Nicole and James Arthur reigning supreme. There have been other fashionable moments that also deserve to be celebrated, last night saw all five of the Spice Girls together for the premiere of Viva Forever, all looking suitably stunning and totally individual. Victoria Beckham S/S 13 – good, but not great.
The latest collection from Victoria Beckham proved to be a further departure from the Roland Mouret style designs that made her name. Sure, there are some form fitting gowns, but these owe more to the minimalist, lingerie style designs of Calvin Klein than to the hourglass fifties silhouette of Mouret. I have to say I was a little disappointed by this collection on the whole. The form fitting lingerie style dresses look a little dated, and a little cheap, whilst the short a-line skirts and crisp shirts just got me thinking ‘so what’. Olympic Closing Ceremony – Spice Girls and the Supers
The most amazing two weeks I can remember has now come to an end, and we are left with just wonderful memories. But what memories! And for fashion fans, there was a final, unforgettable treat with the reformed Spice Girls, and the stunning appearance of the British Supermodels dressed in an array of gold outfits which showcased the best of British design. The Spice Girls whipped up a storm, performing two of my favourite Spice tracks – ‘Wannabee’ and ‘Spice up your Life’.
