Christmas gift ideas from Selfridges Sweater Shop

There is nothing that can make you feel warm and cosy like a much-loved sweater. Worn over jeans or leggings, this can be a great casual look. Add a pencil skirt and heels, and a sweater becomes something completely different.  It is an integral part of any respectable capsule wardrobe, and of course, in recent years it has also become an undisputed star of the Christmas season. Everyone who is anyone has to have at least one Christmas jumper.

Selfridges would not necessarily be your first port of call when looking for a perfect jumper, but this season, they have pulled out all the stops to offer you the most exclusive and stylish selection of sweaters around.  There are logo print sweatshirts emblazoned with patterns, prints and even a typewriter, these will definitely be a huge hit with those who love sportswear and sports luxe designs. Then there are the embellished knits that take knitwear to the next level of sophistication and elegance.

And, if non of these appeal to you, and you truly want your Christmas to be festooned on your sweater, what could be better than having Kevin McAllister, the naughty boy who was once left ‘Home Alone’, as the decoration for your sweatshirt? It doesn’t get any more Christmassy than that!

The Harvey Nichols fashion show returns with added glitz

It’s back! The most glamorous fashion show on Birmingham’s social calender takes place on the 10th September. in the cool confines of the Old Post Office in The Mailbox. It is, of course, the Harvey Nichols  Autumn/Winter fashion show, and this year it promises to be glitzier and more star studded than ever before.

Showcasing an amazing fashion array from the cream of the world’s designers, attendees will be treated to a show filled with pieces from Christopher Kane, Markus Lupfer, Stella McCartney, Philip Armstrong and Kenzo, amongst many others. And if you can tear your eyes away from the fashion on parade, you will find that the celebrity filled front row also makes perfect viewing.

The reason for this is simply. Harvey Nichols has teamed up with ‘Professional Player‘ magazine, the publication delivered to all UK professional footballers, for this show. This should ensure a healthy turnout of sports stars and glamorous WAGS for this event.

Harvey Nichols general manager Richard Vickery explains:-

“We certainly set the bar high at our S/S13 show, so this one needs to be even more impressive. Having recently announced our expansion plans, this event will give our customers a real taste of things to come.”

“This will be our biggest show to date in such an amazing venue and we are delighted to be working closely with Professional Player Magazine, we are expecting the most exclusive front row yet – it certainly will be the event to see and be seen at.”

This event is not to be missed, and tickets have been selling very quickly. Tickets cost £15, this includes a Champagne reception before the show at 7pm. Following the show, you then have the opportunity to shop the show with 15% discount in store. There will also be a charity auction hosted by Nick Hancock, with all proceeds raised going to towards football charity X Pro.

Tickets are available in store and from the Personal Shopping team on 0121 616 6008.

Super luxe maxi dresses from Selfridges

Question – When is a maxi dress not a maxi dress?

Answer – when it is a super luxe maxi dress from Selfridges of course!

Selfridges currently has a range of maxi dresses that are enough to make you seriously drool. From a host of designers who read like a who’s who of fashion, there are designs that are just made for the poolside bar from Michael Kors and Mara Hoffman and printed versions from Diane Von Furstenberg that show that she has lost non of the iconic talent that made her wrap dress so successful.

I love the Angelina Jolie style black draped dress from Helmet Lang, a classic look that requires no adornment, whilst Cavalli and Stella McCartney embrace colour in showstopping designs using the flamboyance of florals and lace.
