King & McGaw – Easyart gets a new name!

The Great Gatsby Art Print | #431270

The Great Gatsby
Art Print | #431270

In February I did a post about the amazing range of images and art prints that are available at Easyart. (You can check out that post here.) Since then, Easyart has had a name change and is now known as King & McGaw, but the fabulous quality and range is still the same and comes highly recommended by Fashion-Mommy. I was recently sent a beautiful print that is now taking pride of place in my living room, and I have to say that the all round service by King McGaw makes them very easy to recommend.

For me personally, one of the main things I worry about when ordering a framed print is that the glass will somehow be damaged in transit. This happened to me before when I ordered an expensive Lowry framed canvas that was smashed before it got to me. But Kip McGaw have really thought about this, and the images are housed in a rather than box, with packaging that keeps the picture in place – there is no room for movement in the box and therefore little chance of it being smashed and therefore disappointing you.

The picture comes with fittings and is carefully encased.

The print that I chose is just perfect for a Art Deco fan. It is a Penguin classic cover of one of my favourite books from the Jazz Age, F Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’. This was first published in 1925 and is rightly acknowledged as Fitzgerald’s masterpiece. The Penguin Classic covers have become a design classic and are now being reproduced on everything from tote bags to tea towels, as well as used again as book covers for re-issued editions. The Gatsby cover is a deep orange shade, with no image other than the famous penguin – it is stark, simple and beautiful, and when framed in a stylish black frame, it makes a real statement on any wall.

If you are a fan of the Penguin covers, King &McGaw has a whole range, from George Orwell’s 1984 to issues from Virginia Woolf, PG Wodehouse and Jane Austen. There are also beautiful reproductions of children’s classics like ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ and ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ which would be lovely in a child’s bedroom. Prices start from £14.95 for a small art print unframed (paper size 40x30cm). A framed print in a box frame, with the image mounted and gallery grade glass costs £60.66.

*With thanks to King & McGaw for the opportunity to review a print.

Bank Christmas in July event – Simply Stunning

Another hot, indeed scorching, Summer day, and another event where we were looking towards the festive season. This time the event was in the swish surroundings of London’s Westbury hotel, and the brand in question was Bank. And if, like me, you think of Bank as a destination only catering for very young, casual and fast fashion, be prepared to have a serious rethink, because the Bank Christmas in July event was full of glitter and sparkle.

There was definitely vintage inspiration on show in the collection, with beading, embellishment and sequins all heavily in evidence. The Great Gatsby elegance shows no signs of disappearing, and 1920s style evening dresses were a major part of the overall evening look.

Blogger Karen from Frumpy to Funky loved this dress!

Another really impressive part of the new collections was the accessory range. I totally fell in love with a pair of red, jewelled heels that will retail for less than £40. These are totally gorgeous and would just transform a little black dress into a party outfit. A great range of clutch bags also caught the eye.

This being a Christmas press day, you couldn’t escape from the ubiquitous Christmas jumper, and Bank have an excellent range, not due in store until early December, but well worth the wait. My pick was the white fluffy reindeer jumper, which was just so soft, and really unusual.

There was so much to admire at this, my first Bank press event. Here are a few more pictures of what you can expect in the coming months.

I love the green bodice of this dress, can imagine Kristen Stewart wearing this.

The laser cut detail on this leatherette dress is a nod to Giles and is perfect for those girls who want to avoid being too dressy.

Just look at the beautiful neckline and swirl detail on this bodice – so beautiful.

Watch out for more Bank reviews coming up this month.

The Gatsby Girl premiere and shop the trend at Lipsy

The Great Gatsby is turning out to be the most influential fashion event of 2013. The premiere at the Cannes film festival on Friday was a super stylish event which saw the attendees pulling out all the stops in the style stakes. To put it quite simply, the abundance of beautiful looks on the big screen meant that it was simply unthinkable not to make the same amount of effort off-screen. Most fashion critics even commented on how glamorous the normally low-key star, Carey Mulligan looked on the red carpet, with sleek long hair and a slash of red lipstick.

Great Gatsby Premiere stars

Lipsy has some great Gatsby inspired pieces at the moment. Placing emphasis on the beautiful beading that was so important to the trends of the 1920s, but bringing things bang up to date with shorter lengths and strapless bodices, Lipsy have really excelled in creating pieces that will be perfect for addressing this trend now, but also surviving into next season and proving to be a great option come party season.

Take a look at some of my favourite pieces from the Gatsby trend at Lipsy.
