Style Trend – Summer Sequins
Sequins used to be a trend kept to Christmas parties and Las Vegas showgirls, but these days your wardrobe isn’t complete without a bit of glittering bling in it. But for those who think that sequins should be kept to the party season, and should only be worn in black, think again. These days, sequins in ice cream shades are the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe. Celebrities from Olivia Palermo to the new Carrie Bradshaw, AnnaSophia Robb, have shown that sequins can actually be a very versatile addition to your capsule wardrobe, and High Street stores like French Connection, and online giants like Boohoo.com are all keying into the…

1960s style lust – Karen Gillan in We’ll take Manahattan
Last night saw the screening of the much-anticipated BBC4 drama ‘We’ll Take Manhattan’. This was the story of the photo shoot that shot 60s model Jean Shrimpton, aka ‘The Shrimp’ to fame, and changed the nature of fashion photography as we now it. The photographer who created this iconic work was of course David Bailey. Shrimpton and Bailey naturally fell in love and became one of the most iconic couples of all time. The programme was fabulous, with Doctor Who star Karen Gillan making a totally gorgeous Shrimpton. Now, Karen is no amateur in the style stakes, with an eclectic personal style that includes wearing rather clumpy shoes to the…

Style Icon of the Month- Solange Knowles
She’s Beyoncé’s little sister, but has a style all of her own, and is now emerging as the one to watch in the fashion stakes. This month Solange Knowles was my standout choice for icon of the month for her interesting mix of fabrics, styles and colours that make her hypnotically watchable, and totally unforgettable. Solange has a gloriously groomed look that echoes 1970s Diana Ross crossed with 50s icon Dorothy Dandridge. She flashes her wondrous legs in a series of showstopping dresses that just scream 1970s chic, but also looks amazing when she shows how to make androgyny a totally feminine look by adding heels and a…

Evan Rachel Wood – The Perfect Halloween Icon.
I make no apologies for loving Evan Rachel Wood. She is a fantastic young actress (have you seen her in Mildred Pierce) and has a fascinating personal life that takes in both Marilyn Manson and (possibly)Mickey Rourke. She is not your average Hollywood starlet by any means, and her wardrobe choices echo this. She is possibly the girl who wears the colour black to the most dramatic effect at the moment, and although she does make other colour choices, like looking amazing in Alessandra Rich sparkling white at Cannes, I really love her style when she opts for the dark and the dramatic. From Pucci at the Recent Ides of…
