The Oversized Shirt From Femme Luxe
This Spring has seen some key trends emerging. There have been the Co ords sets that have been a mixture of skirts/jackets or trousers/tops and have been very popular as they can be mixed and matched to create lots of different outfits. There has been the bodysuit, that gives a perfect smooth line underneath anything you wear, and can also prove to be warmer than just wearing a top on a cool day. And then there has been my favourite new trend of all, the oversized shirt, designed to be worn…well, anyway you like it!
Femme Luxe, the home of the perfect loungewear, has, this Spring, launched into the oversized shirt trend with relish. In a host of gorgeous dopamine colours, it has created shirts that are designed to be styled whichever way you want them, making them the most versatile pieces in your wardrobe. Whether you want to add thick opaque tights in order to wear them as a mini dress, to add a thick belt over leggings to give them a 1980s look, to wear it tucked in as a more tailored look, or just to be worn loose or slouchy, this is a piece that always looks great, with the bright colour also making it a statement piece that will always catch the eye.
I love shirts and buttoned blouses, but can struggle with them. I have a big bust, which can mean shirts pucker at the buttons, or even pop open. This makes an oversized shirt a brilliant option – it avoids the puckering and the popping. I like the idea of the half tuck to give the shirt some shape – being curvy also means I tend to avoid clothes that are too loose fitting as they frankly do nothing for me. The shirt I chose, in a crisp cotton, is perfect for wearing both tucked or belted, and the colour pop is perfect for dull Spring days.
How Did I Style My Shirt?
For me, this was all about letting the colour do the talking, so I teamed my shirt with all black accompaniments. The oversized nature of the shirt meant that skinny jeans were a good option (leggings would work in the same way to add some streamline to the look), and a simple black ballet shoe from Bloch and a black Kurt Geiger Kensington bag picked up from Vinted added a touch of texture. My jewellery reflected the fact that this shirt has it origins in 1980s style, so I went for vintage pearl drop earrings, and a cute pearlized heart necklace from Accessorize.
I love this look, the shirt reminds me of the idea of stealing your man’s oversized look on a Sunday morning, it is cool, but not overdone, just sort of effortless, and this gives it a fun feeling.
How Else Could This Be Styled?
I have already mentioned a few ways this could be styled earlier in this post, but I also love the idea of wearing this with a Tuxedo jacket and peg trousers for an update on the classic look. I think it could also work with any sort of slouchy blazer, whilst my flat shoes could be swapped for a stiletto heel for a sleeker, sexier look. A pair of leather, or pleather trousers or leggings could give this a more evening/rock chick style.
