Stepping Into Spring With Femme Luxe

I can’t be the only person who sees the 1st of March on the calendar and then wants to totally abandon any form of Winter dressing in exchange for my Spring wardrobe. I want to ditch the jumpers and the darker colours, and embrace everything that Spring has to offer, getting rid of the opaque tights too, grabbing the ballerina flats and putting the boots away until next time.

All this is pretty stupid of course. This is England we’re living in, not sunny Spain, and frankly the 1st of March means, at the very least, March winds, and can sometimes bring worse weather than we’ve had in Winter. Yesterday was blustery, and never stopped raining, today is dull. although at least the rain has stopped. Spring generally means changeable, four seasons in one day kind of weather. So our dressing has to reflect that.

Femme Luxe always does really well when it comes to transitional pieces. Their women’s loungewear sets are legendary for cosy days and casual looks, whilst they also have a great range of hoodies and knits that are perfect as the weather and seasons start to change, adding an extra layer, but using beautiful brights and pastel colours that really help to lift the spirit and mood. I’ve been wearing some of the Femme Luxe transitional pieces, things that look great with ripped jeans or leggings for casual looks that still pack a punch.

The first look is a hoodie. Now, Femme Luxe are well known for their jogging style attire, I featured their retro style hoodie in a previous post that you can read here but what I really like is that they constantly take the hoodie in a new direction. The Lana fleeced oversized ruched front hoodie comes in a beautiful shade of mauve.  It is oversized it that it is extra long for a hoodie, covering your backside so perfect for those who consider this a problem area. However, it has a ruched front on one side which means you can cinch this up to create a ruched effect that adds interest to the standard hoodie. You can tie the drawstring in a bow or a knot to create a feature effect, and this can also give a high/low effect to your hoodie.

The colour is beautiful, and is definitely spring like, a gorgeous pastel purple shade, and the hoodie is very warm and cosy, but is not so bulky that you can’t wear a coat or anorak over the top. I teamed my hoodie with a crossbody bag, skinny black jeans and a trusty pair of Stan Smiths, but this would work just as good with leggings, a different coloured jeans, or ankle or cowboy boots, or you could even opt for ballerina shoes once you can abandon the socks again.

My second perfect transitional piece is the Poppy knitted puff sleeved longline cardigan in the gloriously pretty rose shade. I have long been a fan of Femme Luxe longline cardigans, having previously reviewed a grey and stone one on this blog. This one may actually be my favourite of them all, just because I totally love pink, and this is a gorgeous shade of pink. The cardigan is quite oversized, so you could be able to size down (I’m wearing the 14 in this), but the key features are the beautiful puffed sleeves, which just makes this such a dressy look.

The cardigan is midi length, which means you can wear it with so many things. I like it teamed with a mini dress like the floral one I chose (a Vinted bargain, M&S, still with tags for less than a fiver), and then toughened up with Chelsea Boots from Wynsors.

But it also works well as a cover up rather than a coat, worn over skinny jeans and with a metallic boot that picks out the pink shade. Alternatively, add a white t-shirt, some 80’s style jewellery and a pair of peg trousers for a more dressy, elegant look.
