Transitional Pieces From Femme Luxe
Spring is always a funny time when it comes to our wardrobes, as the weather is just so changeable. This week is a key example of this, above average, indeed record temperatures for March that will turn to snow by the beginning of next week. This makes dressing on any given day a minefield, but it’s why we should also have some good transitional pieces in our wardrobes too.
This Spring there is the added excitement of the reopening of pubs, bars and restaurants after lockdown, and the fact that this might have us looking at our going out wardrobe, hardly used for the last year, and deciding it needed some updating. Femme Luxe has some great going out tops that will be fine teamed with jeans when we start to emerge from our Winter hibernation, including corset tops and puffed sleeve tops that will look great now, and as we move into Summer.
But back to transitional pieces, what does our wardrobe need that we will wear now, and then probably head back to in Autumn? What sort of pieces really earn their keep in our wardrobes, and can fashionable items ever be considered classics too?
The Longline Jumper and Faux Leather Leggings
I have to be honest and say I’m not the world’s biggest fan when it comes to leggings, but I honestly don’t think anything looks better with a longline jumper. The Stone Oversized Split Side Knitted Jumper is just gorgeous, with a ribbed style, a great neutral colour and the side split detail which makes them perfect when worn over leggings. This is an oversized style so you can size down unless you want to wear it really slouchy. I wore the XL (which says 12-14) and this is a perfect fit everywhere, including the arms and shoulders, as well as the length (I’m 5ft 7). The neutral shade makes it great to be worn as a base for long necklaces, chunky gold jewellery or a brighter coloured or patterned scarf.
The oversized side split jumper looks great when teamed with the Catriona Black High Waisted Faux Leather Look Leggings. The sheen of the leather look leggings makes them look a more luxurious choice than a pair of cotton/lycra leggings, but they have the same, comfortable elasticated waistband and stretch. They are also high waisted, which is an absolute must if, like me, you carry your weight on your waist. They are great teamed with trainers, but you could also add a pair of boots if the weather was cooler, or even strappy heels in summer, all would work equally well.
Because both the jumper and the leggings are a neutral colour palette, you can pretty much add accessories in any colour you like. I chose to add a colour pop red Biba bag and some rose gold Superga trainers to the look to keep it casual and comfortable.
Longline Knitted Cardigan
This longline cardigan is a perfect piece for those days that are too warm to need a coat, but not warm enough to not wear anything. A longline cardigan can be worn with pretty much anything and for any occasion, I chose to wear it over a faux leather skirt and t-shirt, with a scarf that matched the colour of the cardigan, which again was a lovely neutral stone shade.
This cardigan is a piece that will work in your wardrobe forever. It is warm and yet also looks really stylish. Worn over jeans it is perfect for the school run, worn over a dress it can be a really elegant look. The colour will work with so many other shades and also teams with prints like my animal print boots and printed scarf.
If you are looking for some good, transitional pieces to get you through the Spring, I would definitely recommend that you check out Femme Luxe.
