Women In Business Expo Fashion Show 2019

The Women in Business Expo Fashion Show is always one of the most exciting, and satisfying events on the social calendar in Birmingham. Organised by Headz Up Business as a way for women in business, technology and innovation to get together and network, but also enjoy a showcase of local designers, creatives and fashion entrepreneurs, the Women in Business Expo has become an unmissable event.

The 2019 event was held on Friday in the beautiful confines of the second city’s Council House. The fashion was interspersed with guest speakers offering their personal stories of being a woman in business, along with motivational advice for those just starting out, or facing current personal struggles. Speakers included the brilliant Marverine Cole, TV presenter and now Director of four new BA hons degree courses in journalism at Birmingham University and Barbara Anderson from Genistar, a financial services company that focuses on financial education for middle income families.

There were also two panel events, an inspiring women panel which I was honoured to be included in, and a Women in tech panel. These panels allow real women to share their stories and experiences in their fields, which included construction, blogging, the fire service and graphic design.

The Fashion Show

The fashion show was put together this year by Joshua Williams, and Xenia Karayiannis from SeventyOne Media. It showcased a range of local designers and fashion brands, ranging from the bespoke hats from Sofya Style, fabulous prints from Rosie Billington, tailoring and prom styles from Donna Marina, current trends and bodycon from Mirror Image Style, Tiffany Stanford, who as well as showcasing her versatile dresses that can be worn in a range of ways, had also curated a collection from Vintage Tramp, glorious vintage inspired hats and headpieces from Sharper Millinery, and luxurious red carpet gowns from Kiss Me Kate.

Here are some of the looks from the catwalk show.
