X Factor Week 3 – Kelly, Tulisa and a bit of Kelly Clarkson.

It was rock week on the X Factor this week(not that anyone told Tulisa..I mean Kesha???), and that meant Saturday was the night for leather, studs and a whole lot of black outfits.

Kelly won the saturday night war in a sexy little black leather dress from…Topshop. This dress seemed made for her new curves and suited the rock night theme without going overboard. I liked so many details of this dress.The fact that the skirt was short, but not too short, and with the skater effect it avoided looking tarty like a straighter skirt would have done. Although I like Kelly’s hair when it is sleek and straight,  a little bit of Slash style never hurt anyone, least of all on a rock night. Kelly’s outfit was not all about the High Street however, as she added a gorgeous pair of Giuseppe Zanotti heels and an Alaia belt.

I’ve searched for Kelly’s dress and can’t find it on Topshop’s site at present, but there are some other leather dresses on the site, one of which featured below.

Tulisa went for a long Herve Leger halter neck column dress, covered in what looked like silver metal chains. She wore her hair in a quiff style updo, and looked to have slightly overdone her face in Fake Bake, which unfortunately didn’t seem the same shade as her shoulders and arms.

The dress certainly demanded attention, and Tulisa has an amazing figure which certainly suits this silhouette, but overall the look  left me cold. Herve Leger is such an overdone designer, and always screams easy option to me. I would like  have seen Tulisa rocking some of the seriously gothic looks that were all over the Catwalk last February, or a young British designer like  Holly Fulton. Opting for the Leger over and  over again just comes across as safe.

Sunday night saw the girls turn away from the heavy black, and move towards glamour and glitz. Kelly wore a long dress by Falguni and Peacock that had an art deco style bodice and a sheer skirt. It is no surprise that Kelly has finally wore a Falguni and Peacock design on X Factor, she has long been a fan of the design duo, and this was a very fashion forward look.

I think Kelly looked just gorgeous in this dress, and was very on trend. Sheer panelled skirts are a big fashion story and I think they look elegant, whilst still having major sex appeal. Here a few sheer panelled looks from the High Street.

Tulisa wore a dress that has definitely divide opinions. This was a Dolce and Gabbana emerald-green sequined dress, that on Twitter was likened to a quality street green triangle and a Christmas cracker. I thought it was beautiful, and a definite departure for Tulisa. It covered that horrid Lady Boss tattoo, was of a length that was neither thigh or floor skimming, and was very chic. My one reservation was that this dress did not need that huge necklace to add sparkle or detail, that  was one accessory too many in my eyes. But this was certainly one of Tulisa’s best looks.

Sequined dresses are just the perfect trend for Christmas and I just love the long-sleeved version. Tulisa’s dress is available at net-a-porter.com for £1,660 (wow!). But there are lots of cheaper versions on the market in a range of fabulous colours.

And sequined dresses were definitely the order of the day with guest star Kelly Clarkson also looking amazing in a sequined dress.
