YOSHI Pussybow Blouse with Split Sleeves From Elvi
Elvi is a fashion brand that has long been considered a bastion of stylish clothing for plus sized women, but recently it decided to change its fashion philosophy to embrace all women. The London based fashion retailer has recently decided to approach inclusivity by expanding their size ranges to offer sizes UK 8-28 in ALL their designs. This is quite unusual in the fashion world, where many brands only stock up to a size 16, and then you move on to their plus sized range, usually a dodgy array of basics and butterflies.
Elvi has also decided to look at the models it uses to promote their ranges, introducing images of the same item modelled on women of different shapes and sizes to show just how the clothes look on people who actually look like you, a real touch of body positivity.
I love the new range, with its diverse looks and style, but there is no doubt what is the standout item for me. The YOSHI Pussybow Blouse with Split Sleeves is just the most glorious, dramatic blouse you will find anywhere. Two parts smart blouse/shirt, to one part cape, the standout feature of the blouse are the stunning open sleeves that give Yoshi it’s billowing cape effect.
Rudi, who is pictured in the above image is, like me, a size 16 in this blouse, so I could see that it would probably be a good fit and I was proven correct. It is a perfect fit without any pulling across the bust and buttons. Then there is the colour, this is just as vibrant a shade of green as it looks in the photograhs – it is stunning, and perfect when teamed with black.
The fabric has a slight pattern in it, and the style gives a nod to the 1970s with its pussybow neckline. The flesh on show is the lower arms only, so perfect for those who are not keen on their upper arm, and the length makes this the perfect blouse to be worn with trousers or jeans – I teamed mine with black jeans but would love this with a classic cigarette pants too.
I wore the blouse to a fashion event last week and thought that it was dressy enough for any evening occasion, whether that be date night or drinks with the girls. It is classic and stylish, but with just enough edge to make it stand out from the crowd.
