1950s styling for Spring – what would Grace Kelly wear?
This Spring, take some fashion inspiration from one of style’s eternal goddesess. Grace Kelly, who became Princess Grace of Monaco, had a personal style that was both classy and classic, and has remained a look that continues to inspire and delight fashion fans year after year.
It is a style that always works well for Spring, due to the freshness of the full skirted printed dresses she wore with such aplomb, and the modern addition of her ever present sunglasses. These are looks you can find online, with Vivien of Holloway being one of the best destinations when it comes to finding dresses that have that retro style and print. One dress is even called ‘Grace’, surely in honour of the unforgettable film actress who was so iconic she eve had a Hermes bag named after her.
In terms of glasses, it is up to you whether you opt for the cat eyed retro styles, 1960s bug eyed style that both Grace and Jackie Onassis favoured, or even something ultra modern. Sunglasses experts My Glasses Guru have an enormous section, and I am currently loving the Ted Baker range which definitely has a retro flavour this season, with tortoiseshell frames and tinted lenses. My Glasses Guru is great in that it helps you choose frames that will suit your skin tone and hair colour too – something I had never really thought about, but it a great idea that could help you find your perfect classes.
Who is your retro style icon? Do you take any fashion inspiration from icons of the past?

The silver lace bust dress is really pretty but I don’t tend to suit dresses/ skirts of this design x

Love all those Ted Baker glasses! Ted Baker is one of my favourite brands so I’ll be looking out for those when it’s warmer 🙂

You’ve got to love a bit of 50s fashion! I love the style of dresses from that era, and I’m using that style for my bridesmaid dresses 🙂

She was soooooo glam. I wish I could have even a third of her style.

I wish they had bigger sizes, their dresses are so lush! I got told once that I looked like a fat Diana Dors. Best compliment ever!
