1950s styling for Spring – what would Grace Kelly wear?

This Spring, take some fashion inspiration from one of style’s eternal goddesess. Grace Kelly, who became Princess Grace of Monaco, had a personal style that was both classy and classic, and has remained a look that continues to inspire and delight fashion fans year after year.

It is a style that always works well for Spring, due to the freshness of the full skirted printed dresses she wore with such aplomb, and the modern addition of her ever present sunglasses. These are looks you can find online, with Vivien of Holloway being one of the best destinations when it comes to finding dresses that have that retro style and print. One dress is even called ‘Grace’, surely in honour of the unforgettable film actress who was so iconic she eve had a Hermes bag named after her.

In terms of glasses, it is up to you whether you opt for the cat eyed retro styles, 1960s bug eyed style that both Grace and Jackie Onassis favoured, or even something ultra modern. Sunglasses experts My Glasses Guru have an enormous section, and I am currently loving the Ted Baker range which definitely has a retro flavour this season, with tortoiseshell frames and tinted lenses. My Glasses Guru is great in that it helps you choose frames that will suit your skin tone and hair colour too – something I had never really thought about, but it a great idea that could help you find your perfect classes.

Who is your retro style icon? Do you take any fashion inspiration from icons of the past?

If you are looking for a pair of stylish, affordable sunglasses then My Glasses Guru is well worth a look. The site has a wide range of sunglasses, both prescription and fashion, and includes premium brands like Tom Ford, Swarovski, O Neil, Ted Baker and Storm. I was recently asked if I would like to review a pair of sunglasses from the site and I chose a lovely pair from the Superdry range, the Juku with a caramel frame.

The Juku sunglasses are a mixed frame glasses, a tortoiseshell style acetate frame is teamed with stylish gold arms with the Superdry logo emblazoned on the side. The glasses come in an trademark Superdry orange dustbag, and are lightweight and comfortable to wear, making them great for driving or long periods in the sun.

These are a really stylish pair of glasses, delicate and glamorous, and, especially in the caramel colourway – with a decidedly vintage feel. I have been wearing the glasses a lot recently and find that they are easy to wear for long periods – I had an eye infection that was made worse by the sun and so needed some protection for my eyes – these were really useful at this time.

The glasses are also very easy to style. With the tortoiseshell style frame, they can be teamed easily with a casual outfit, but also look good with a dress and heeels. They are totally versatile.
