Betsey Johnson is back – check out her collection for Jones Bootmaker
Betsey Johnson is back and is better than ever. The wonderfully over-the-top fashion original is a favourite with celebrities like Agyness Deyn and Katy Perry, whilst the late, great Amy Winehouse got married in a Betsey Johnson design. Flamboyant, exuberant and fun, Betsey is a real style original who highlights everything that can be great about fashion. And now she has produced a fabulous shoe collection in collaboration with Jones Bootmaker, and it is all so typically Betsey. Here are some of the key picks from an exuberant range. Reviewed – Blaklader Workwear craftsmen trousers
Whilst I enjoy delving into the fascinating world that is fashion, my other (and some would say better) half, Pete, works as a carpenter, converting lofts. It is a hard job, working both inside and outside in all conditions, working high in the air, or in small confined spaces and in some seriously dirty, dusty old lofts. All these issues make good quality work-wear an essential, particularly work trousers that are both hard-wearing and comfortable. So when we were offered the chance to test-drive some craftsmen trousers from the Swedish workwear company Blaklader, a company that had been well established in providing quality workwear since the 1950s, we were extremely…

Kate wears Temperley to greet the athletes
At a reception at Buckingham Palace to salute Britain’s golden summer and the wonderful athletes created it, Duchess Kate showed off a new dress that has so far received decidedly mixed reviews. The black and gold dress from Alice Temperley has been described as being too ‘busy’ with floral applique panels, a frilled skirt which also had a pleated panel, and a silk sash belt at the waist, there was certainly a lot going on. But, in my opinion, this does not distract from the beauty of the gown, which I think was perfect in it’s cocktail length, beautiful embellishment, and also in the use of gold as a motif.…

Boden’s 1960s Winter – Love!
This season, it seems like Boden is taking us on a journey to the 1960s, British style. I can’t help but look at the new collection and be transferred to the time of Marianne Faithfull, Georgy Girl, Jean Shrimpton and Julie Christie. This is the 1960s of Kitchen Sink drama’s and gritty realism, tweeds and shift dresses, a time when Mary Quant ruled and every button was huge! Boden has taken a raft of those classic cuts, the simple shift dress, the collared tunic designed to be worn as a sexy mini, and those patent shoes with the just high enough heel to enable you to dance the night away.…

TM Lewin present the perfect white shirt
The perfect white shirt is the holy grail of shirts. Finding a shirt with the right cut, the right fit, the perfect buttons, the crispest whitest of whites is not an easy task, and when you add into that the fact that of a rather large bust that needs to be flattered rather than flattened, you make the task virtually impossible. So thank goodness for the legendary English tailoring of TM Lewin. TM Lewin has been a must visit London destination for the discerning gentleman since 1898, when Thomas Mayes Lewin first opened his Jermyn Street store. These days the company has just under a 100 stores in the UK,…
