My favourite looks from the Tony Awards
Last night saw the ‘Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre’. Of course, you probably know them as the Tony Awards, which recognise achievement in live Broadway theatre. This year it was a very glamorous affair, with British interests well rewarded with a best actress award for Helen Mirren for ‘The Audience’ (playing The Queen is definitely lucky for Helen, after an Oscar for The Queen.) Young British actor Alex Sharp was also awarded for his role in one of my favourite plays ‘The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time’. There was some seriously, jaw-droppingly gorgeous looks on display, with Jennifer Lopez in particular, moving away from the…

How the internet keeps us in touch.
I have never been much of a sleeper. In daytime I can feel really tired and find myself having mini dozes, but once the night-time comes I can often find myself wide awake, lying in bed and watching the clock go around. Because of this, I tend to go to bed later and spend night time hours on the internet – blogging, updating photo albums on Facebook and finding new and interesting websites. I even sometimes play a game of Bingo. When trawling the web last night I came across the Bingocams site, which offers live Bingo games with a new twist. The site has incorporated webcams into the mix,…

Summer is sorted with High Street Outlet
I am continuing my series of reviews of the great pieces you can pick up online at High Street Outlet by featuring a dress that is a perfect summer holiday dress. The Santiago maxi dress was originally a White Stuff piece, and because of the use of cotton, and the tropical halter neck, it is definitely a piece that I will be folding neatly into my holiday suitcase in a few weeks time. The picture above is just one of the reasons I chose this dress – just how amazing does it look worn casually with flip flops and hippy style beads? I knew this was a dress that could…

A Puzzling Review from Ravensburger
Our children are born in times when play and pastimes usually involve a computer or gaming screen of some kind. My Joe is only 6, but he can already access games and computer programmes in a way that his dad could only dream of. But sometimes it is nice to challenge the brain in ways that don’t involve a keyboard, a mouse or an ipad. Doing a jigsaw is one way to achieve that. Ravensburger may well be considered the champions of modern jigsaw puzzles, producing quality pieces that make up pictures of everything from Minions to Star Wars Rebels. We were sent a 100 piece Dinosaur xxl Jigsaw (suitable…

Aluna opens its doors for Cocktail fun
On a gloriously warm Thursday evening I made my way to the canalside at Birmingham’s Mailbox for the launch of Aluna, the city’s newest cocktail venue. I was intrigued by the promise of unusual cocktail mixes in a stunning newly furnished bar, especially as I had been a fan of The Oriental restaurant that had previously been based in the building. I’m pleased to report that Aluna is stunning, both in decor and in concept, a new, must visit destination for cocktail lovers. On the evening press, bloggers and VIPS were treated to Champagne, canapes and the vast array of cocktails – there are more than 80 on the menu…
