Fashion: The Year of Yellow
It may be a type of green that has been named the Pantone colour for 2017 (greenery – which is a shade I have frankly never heard of) but it seems to be yellow, all shades of yellow, that is having a moment. For proof you need to look no further than the recent Golden Globe awards, where Natalie Portman, Viola Davis, Reese Witherspoon and Maisie Williams were amongst the many ladies wearing a shade of yellow. Best Actress winner Emma Stone has also hit the campaign trail in yellow, as has one of my style crushes Naomie Harris. Kate Moss is famously a fan of the colour, one of…

Molly Goddard X Topshop
The much anticipated shoe collaboration between Topshop and rising fashion star Molly Goddard is finally available in store and online. First seen on the runway at Molly’s shows last September, the collaboration is a capsule collection of eight pairs of shoes and boots which combine Topshop cool with Molly’s quirky style. Molly Goddard is one of the most exciting rising stars in fashion. Much loved by Uber Blogger Susie Bubble, Goddard’s style is a little like an explosion in a tutu factory meshed with all the best elements of the dressing up box. She loves tulle, frothy ice cream colours and net, but these ultra feminine touches can be teamed…

End January with a Cocktail Hour
cocktail hour noun 1. the interval before the evening meal during which cocktails and other alcoholic beverages are often served. I think we need to bring back cocktail hour this January. As a month, it is always miserable, containing the most miserable day of the year. This particular January has been cold, cold enough to want to stay in and hibernate until at least mid March. So what better way to brighten up the month than by bringing back the most glamorous hour of the day, one which tastes delicious, and can, if you so wish, be attended in your pjs. Let’s bring back cocktail hour. I have only…

The New Season Launch at the Birmingham Hippodrome PT 1
On Monday I was a guest of the Birmingham Hippodrome for the new season launch. It was a very special night with Q&A sessions involving people involved in some of the most exciting shows coming to Birmingham this year, as well as a preview of the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Cinderella, which is coming to the Hippodrome next month. It was a fascinating night which has certainly wet my appetite for the fantastic season ahead. The evening started with a performance of the Pas de deux from Cinderella, danced by Karla Doorbar and Lachlan Monaghan. This is a beautiful dance, made all the more iconic on the dark, sparse floor stage…

Raising Awareness of Young People’s Mental Health Issues
One of the most absorbing and awe inspiring events I attended last year was the Elite Fashion Show. As well as showcasing a range of talented designers, the event was also raising awareness of young people’s mental health issues, with some of those who have suffered from the effects of mental health, both themselves, or as carers for others, taking to the stage in a very special catwalk show. The message was clear, mental health issues can affect anyone, and being young is certainly no barrier against this – issues can start as early as school years. The shocking thing is that despite the fact Mental Health is becoming less…
