Oscars 2019 – Looks And Trends
Last night was the Oscars, always the glitziest night on the movie calendar, but it has to be said that when it comes to fashion, the 2019 ceremony was a little lacking in the real superstar power. There was no Angelina, no Jennifer Aniston, no Cate Blanchett or Kate Winslet, no Gwyneth, no Renee Zellweger, in short, very few actress arrivals to really get excited about. So thank goodness for Lady Gaga, a slinky and stunning Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren. This was the red carpet where it seemed that all the staid and seriousness of the ‘me too’ carpets had no given way. There was more pink, tulle and…

Museum Fun: Da Vinci and Too Cute!
The Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is one of the second city’s treasures, a stunning Victorian building that is home to a gallery dedicated to ‘The Staffordshire Hoard’, a wealth of Pre Raphaelite treasures including my most beloved painting of all (The last of England by Ford Maddox Brown) and a brilliant gallery that is a tribute to Birmingham and its people. I spent a rather wet and miserable Friday soaking up these treasures, and also checking out to rather fabulous exhibitions that are currently taking place. The Leonardo 500 exhibition is a joint enterprise between some of the UKs most important museums and art galleries that is celebrating the…

West End Treats – What To See in 2019
For me, nothing beats the thrill of seeing a show on the West End stage in a beautiful theatre, the treat of catching the latest must see show, the thrill of watching the hottest ticket in town. 2019 is already promising to be a vintage year when it comes to new shows and must see hits, with so many new shows that range from adaptations of TV shows and cult movies, to perennial favourites and brand new classics. It truly is a fantastic time to see a show, you are quite literally spoilt for choice, with musicals truly having a golden era. Here are a few of the shows that…

What Parents Should Know About the Dangers of Distracted Driving
Texting while driving increases your chances of a car crash by almost 23 times. Take time to compare this consequence to the convenience of just 5 seconds of being on your phone while driving. Distracted driving through cell phone use has taken a lot of lives over the years, especially now that technology has paved way for more “convenient” devices, such as GPS trackers and infotainment dashboards. Sure, these are hands-free technology, but they don’t take away the fact that they are forms of visual and auditory distractions. Being parents, we can’t risk the safety of our children just to spend a few seconds to use our phones while driving.…

Beauty and the Beast casts a spell at the Birmingham Hippodrome
One of the most beloved of all fairy stories proved to be equally as enchanting when performed as a ballet, when Beauty and the Beast weaved it’s spell at the Birmingham Hippodrome last night. The latest production by the Birmingham Royal Ballet told that age of told of love conquering all with a mixture of menace and charm, and with an ending that was sublimely romantic. The story is the one we are all familiar with, an angry violent Prince is transformed into a beast by a woodsman disgusted by his bloody pursuit of a vixen. Meanwhile, a down-on-his-luck merchant, faced with baliffs and creditors, is waiting for a fleet…
