    Diversity Connected Is Spectacular Entertainment

Diversity brought their latest show, ‘Connected’ to Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre last night and it is spectacular! I don’t think I’d be wrong in saying that as a 40 something woman I’m probably not the target audience for this show, which is all about how we are connected through the power of the internet, but I loved every clever minute of it, finding myself dazzled, entertained and moved in turn. The full house and standing ovation at the end of the show, was fully deserved, this is one show you must see. As mentioned in my introduction, ‘Connected’ is all about the power of the internet to keep us all connected…

Charity Shop, Vintage and Vinted Finds

This Spring has seen some of the richest pickings when it comes to charity shop, vintage and Vinted finds. It seems like everyone in the country has had a sort out and there have been some real bargains to be found. I have to say that I have been sorting myself, and sent over 100 items to Acorns children’s charity shop that my mom manages, so feel absolutely no guilt about the brilliant items I have found, which has included designer items at what can only be described as bargainous prices. A global pandemic hit, a lockdown ensued, families separated from loved ones for months on end, children not able to go to school, a work from home notice, panic buying in the supermarkets of everything from toilet rolls to pasta, Captain Tom Moore stealing the nation’s hearts, clapping for the NHS every Thursday night. It was a surreal time, a time of the most glorious spring weather we had seen in years, but a stay at home notice for all. No one will ever forget 2020. No one there will ever want to relive it.…

Arts And Antiques For Everyone At The NEC

Arts and Antiques For Everyone at the Birmingham NEC made a welcome return last weekend with its usual range of antiques from all periods, and of all shapes and sizes. I went along to feast on the gorgeousness, a particularly rewarding experience as there were lots of items from my favourite era, the Art Deco era of 1925-40. Art Deco is beautiful and elegant, with lots of streamlined shapes, geometric lines and glamorous curves. At this years fayre there was a lot of Art Deco furniture of the sort you would imagine gracing an episode of Poirot, or Eltham Palace, all in the elegance of walnut wood and cream leather.…
