Cotton Traders Alex Jones Edit

This season, Cotton Traders have once again partnered with the lovely TV presenter Alex Jones to create a classic and timeless collection. As we are heading into the coldest period of the year, this collection is full of stylish knits, useful separates and warm and snug coats that will ensure that you are kept warm yet still look fashionably stylish. This year this is a collection that is full of surprises!

Cotton Traders are always great when it comes to wearable fashion. They create pieces that earn their keep in your wardrobe, that you will be able to wear time and time again, and will reach for in seasons to come. This is not throwaway fashion, but is the precise opposite, the never throw away style. But, as I already mentioned, this is also a collection that is full of surprises, with new prints, ‘everything with pockets’, and inspiration that is luxe and lovely.

I have been asked to choose my favourite pieces from the current collection and to give my thoughts on them.

The Check Blazer

My first piece is the gorgeous, versatile check blazer. This is  a true hero piece which Alex wears in the neutral/smoke blue colourway. This is a classic blazer that is fully lined, has two, very useful front pockets (mine are currently hosting tissues due to me having the mother of all colds!), has a two button fastening front, but also looks great left open, and has a brilliant structured shape due to having soft shoulder pads .

This is a jacket that looks great worn casually over jeans, but can also be worn in other ways too. Alex is wearing it with jeans, but I have worn it more formally with a pair of black wide leg trousers for a special family occasion. I have also worn it with a ‘pleather’ skirt and blouse for a trip to the theatre. I genuinely think this is a jacket that you can wear any wear and with anything, it just adds a touch of class to any look.

Premium Pull-On Knee Length Skirt

As I said earlier, this is a collection that is full of surprises. Camel is a colour I never wear, it just isn’t me, but I absolutely adore this Premium Pull-On Knee Length Skirt in the camel shade. It is just lovely. The colour is soft and flattering, it once again has pockets, which really are the Holy Grail when it comes to women’s wear, and it has an easy fit, pull on waistband that stretches and is comfortable, even on the most ‘bloated’ of days.

As well as the comfort elasticated pull-on rib waistband, the skirt has key styling details including a mock fly, and Western style pockets which gives this a similar appearance to a denim skirt. It is a flattering knee length and has a slightly A-line skirt shape with shaping detail to the back. The model shows this works well with a shirt for a Western look. but I have teamed it with a Cotton Traders striped polo neck from last season, and think this works well too.
