Acorns Wednesbury Has a Whole New Look
One of my favourite charity shops has been given a brand new look. Acorns, Wednesbury, which raises much needed funds for the Acorns Children’s Hospices, is one of the biggest shops within the company, and now, thanks to a refurbishment, it has even more space for a wide range of clothes, accessories and home wares.
I popped by last week to take a look at the new look and was seriously impressed. The shop feels so spacious, and with it’s bright lighting and clean lines, it is literally a pleasure to shop there. All the items on sale have been carefully curated – books are in perfect condition with no ripped pages, clothing is also perfect, and has been steam cleaned so it is already ‘ready to wear’. Shelves are well stocked with items in every size range, and there are also vintage gems on the rails that are an absolute bargain price when compared to dedicated vintage shops and fairs. There are also high end High Street and designer names in store, with pieces from Vivienne Westwood, Prada, Hobbs, Tommy Hilfiger and Barbour all currently on the shelves.
All Acorn shops raise valuable funds for the families of children who need end of life care, with the hospices offering offering palliative care across the West Midlands region and part of South West England. The shops rely heavily on donations, and in our current climate this is even more important, as it seems that more customers are crossing the shops threshold, as less donations come in. You can help support Acorns Wednesbury by sorting out your wardrobes and donating your unwanted, good quality clothing to the shop. Not only will you help to raise funds for a brilliant cause, but you are recycling clothing that could end up going to landfill.
If you can’t donate stock, there are other ways in which you could help. A donation of your time is also something that is much appreciated, as volunteers are needed to help sort new donations, serve on the till, and refill stock on the shop floor. It can be as little as a few hours a week, but this can help the shop to operate, and can gain young people experience that can be added to a CV.
