Cannes – Daytime Classics

The Cannes film festival is always a super glamorous event, and that means for daytime photocalls as well as evening Red Carpet events. This is not an occasion for jeans and t-shirts, the celebrities are never less than dressed up at Cannes. And this gives fashion watchers the perfect opportunity to check out some fabulous looks for daytime. From lace to florals, to Freida Pinto in the cutest two piece, there have been some highly covetable looks that could translate to glamorous daytime occasions like the races, the tennis and weddings.

These are my favourite daytime looks so far from Cannes.

Kirsten Dunst shows that white can be the perfect shade for both porcelain blondes and summer days. This white lace dress from Dolce and Gabbana suits Kirsten’s ethereal image and I love the midi length. I am less enamoured with the outfit sported by Glamour’s best dressed woman (honestly..who votes for these things…) Kirsten Stewart, whose Balenciaga trousers make her look like she has been severely attacked by Algae…

I’m really not sure what Kelly Brook is doing at Cannes (keeping my fingers crossed it has nothing to do with acting…), but Kelly has that old school glamour that harks back to the era of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida. Kelly looked immaculate in this white dress which hugged every curve and could only be teamed with vampish red lips.

Mia Wasikowska often fails to catch my interest – I usually find her pale and uninteresting. But I absolutely loved the candy coloured printed summer dress from Prada that she wore for the Lawless photocall.

Jessica Chastain looked wonderful in a bright floral shift dress that showed she should definitely wear more bright colours as they really suit her colouring. This pretty shift by Dolce and Gabbana requires no accessorising – it is simply the perfect summer dress.

Freida Pinto looked frankly amazing in a Salvatore Ferragamo crop style top and full fifties skirt in what can only be described as Riviera stripes. This was such a fresh and pretty look, and was perfect for the beautiful sea view that she cleverly posed in front of.
