Boohoo Plus – perfect pieces for the Party Season

Well done Boohoo Plus! The plus size range, that was launched about this time last year, has won the prestigious ‘Best for Curves; award at the Cosmopolitan fash fest. This doesn’t really surprise me, the award is well deserved for a range that offers great choice, really smart designs and good value for the sometimes disappointing plus size clothing market. This season, Boohoo has picked up on the key trends, and offered versions that will delight fashion fans everywhere. We have some gorgeous midi skirts, with elegant styling that is subverted by the use of velvet, mesh paneling and pu fabric that add a sexier edge to that office essential.…

Teal Square Shutter Dress from Wallis

My party season officially started last week when I enjoyed my first Christmas dinner at MPW in the Cube, Birmingham (You can read my review of that here.) MPW is a sophisticated setting and so it was the perfect place to try out a gorgeous cocktail dress that the lovely people at Wallis had very kindly sent me. This was the teal square shutter dress, and it proved to be the perfect look and fit. Wallis bring the glitz to knits

There has been a lot of talk about knitwear on the blog this month, the sudden drop in temperature and the realisation that Winter is just around the corner has made me quite conscious of the need to wrap up, plus there has been the focus on jumpers of the Christmas variety (you can find that post here if you haven’t yet seen it.) Wallis have taken knitwear in an elegant, evening direction. Using embellishments, glitter thread and fluffy wool, Wallis have…

Embracing Faux Fur at Next this season

At the risk of repeating myself for the umpteenth time, I have to say I am not a fan of Winter. It is too cold, too dark and too miserable for me, I love light nights, warm days and sunshine. But one thing I do like about Winter is the way it is suddenly acceptable to add really fun, faux fur pieces into the wardrobe, with the mantra seeming to be ‘the brighter, the better.’ I took a little Christmas shopping trip with my mom and sister on Sunday, and mom treated me to a fabulous soft grey fun fur gilet from Next that I have had my eyes on…

Cut for Evans Returns in style

In recent seasons, Evans  has been a trail blazer when it comes to plus size design. Moving away from the ubiquitous tunics, tent style dresses and (shudder) all those butterfly designs that seem to flood the plus size market, Evans have instead offered a premium designer collection with Clements Ribeiro, and have also helped to uncover new talent in the form of the ‘Cut for Evans’ collection – the first of which was launched February this year. And now the second collection is being launched, and is offering form-fitting styles, beautiful prints and a palette of blues and purples that both clash and match perfectly. The Cut for Evans collection…
