You Can’t Stop the Beat – Hairspray is launched in Birmingham
Tuesday saw the launch event for the brightest, bubbliest, biggest musical around, as the cast of Hairspray arrived at Birmingham’s New Alex Theatre. The show will be this year’s big Christmas musical at the Alex, following on from Jersey Boys and Ghost in 2014 and 13 respectively. I was very lucky to be invited to the launch, where the All star cast performed a series of key songs from the musical, and also hosted a Q&A session with the audience. Style Birmingham Live 2015 – fashion fun in Brum
Last weekend saw all the glamorous people flock to Birmingham for Style Birmingham Live 2015. Held in the Gas Hall of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, shows took place over the Saturday and Sunday and featured a range of outfits put together using the best of the Birmingham’s High Street and Independent names. The show was also a showcase for the newly opened John Lewis, who opened the show, and for the hit television show Peaky Blinders, which is famously set in the city in the 1920s. Ashley Williams is one of the Britain’s most promising young fashion designers. Her designs are highly acclaimed and have a celebrity following, worn by the likes of Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and Georgia May Jagger. An afternoon of Luxury at Harvey Nichols
On Saturday I was part of a small group of bloggers who were treated to an incredible afternoon in the stunning ultra modern Harvey Nichols store in Birmingham’s Mailbox. Brunch, beauty, hair and a tour of the very special store were all included in a busy afternoon, one which gave a real insight into what an absolute jewel in Birmingham’s glittering crown Harvey Nicks really is. A Grand Central John Lewis Focus
You would probably need to have been living on the moon or planet Mars not to know that last week was a very special one for Birmingham. Grand Central Birmingham had its official opening and is already proving to be a huge success, not least because of its amazing flaghip John Lewis store.
