Interviewing Gloria Hunniford for Tombola Times

Blogging brings so many weird and wonderful opportunities, and none more so than the chance to interview wonderful people. Recently I was asked to submit an interview for Gloria Hunniford, currently one of the leading lights on Loose Women, but with a rich and varied career spanning more than 50 years. I’m a great fan of Gloria as I believe she really bucks the trend when it comes to older women on television. In the days when 40+ presenters are often replaced by someone younger and prettier, Gloria goes from strength to strength and is a real example of talent and substance outlasting fashionable fad presenters. You can read my…

The Little black dress makes a triumphant return at Cannes

The Cannes festival continues and I continue to be blown away by the beauty of many of the looks on display. Forget the excessive amounts of flesh that we seem to be bombarded with lately, the likes of Emma Stone, Sienna Miller, Cate Blanchett, Naomi Watts and Lupita Nyong’u have decided to show us what a movie star really looks like, rather than opting for Cher’s Bob Mackie cast-offs. It is both a breathe of fresh air, and a visual treat. Glamour at its best in a beautiful setting. One thing I have noticed is that classic, glamorous black gowns seem to be making a Cannes comeback. Yes, there have…

The Cannes fashion fest has begun

My favourite feast of fashion is finally here, and I am unbelievably excited. Yes, the Cannes film festival has begun, and with the likes of Sienna Miller, Lupita Nyong’o, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts, and (sighs) Fan Bingbing in attendence, the bar is set for some amazing fashion looks. I love the drama and decadence of Cannes, the gorgeous weather and stunning scenary just seems to lend itself to the most exquisite of photo opps, and the stars always seem to deliver in abundance. Who can forget last years movie star masterclass from Blake Lively, when she appeared in beautiful look after beautiful look. Other stars who have ruled that red…

Glamour at the Baftas from House of Fraser

Last night saw the television Baftas taking place, with the stars of the small screen walking the red carpet. Sheridan Smith, Lucy Mecklenburgh, Millie Mackintosh, Michelle Keegan and Denise Van Outen were amongst the lovely ladies who got their best frocks on for a night of television celebration. If I’m being honest, it was far from a vintage night for style or fashion. Many of the lovely ladies had decided to go for the Met Gala flash as much flesh as possible route with dresses that offered sheer panels, strategically placed lace and not a lot else. I might be on my own saying this, but I am so bored…

Met Gala 2015 – My fave looks

The Met Gala 2015 will go down as one of the most memorable in recent history. The theme this year was ‘China: Through the looking glass; and this gave way to a host of plays on this theme. Unfortunately, for many fashionista’s this meant some sort of poppy display and very questionable eye make-up (I’m talking to you Kris Jenner, and frankly still shuddering at the thought nearly 24hours on.) There was also a lot of flesh on display, as Cher’s fright frocks of the 1980s were resurrected on Beyonce, JLo and Kim Kardashian – all of whom should frankly sack the stylist and put some clothes on. Fortunately, there…
