A weekend in Blackpool with Travelodge Southshore
I adore Blackpool, it is definitely the flashiest, glitiziest place in the UK, and the sight of that iconic tower always makes my heart skip a beat. I do think finding really good accommodation at an affordable price and in walking distance of the attractions is difficult though – there are lots of guest house around but you really do hear some horror stories. So why not opt for a stay in one of the UK’s most trusted, affordable hotel chains – Travelodge? We did, and we were certainly very impressed by all aspects of our stay. Location Travelodge Blackpool Southshore is situated on Bloomfield Rd, opposite the Blackpool FC…

A Puzzling Review from Ravensburger
Our children are born in times when play and pastimes usually involve a computer or gaming screen of some kind. My Joe is only 6, but he can already access games and computer programmes in a way that his dad could only dream of. But sometimes it is nice to challenge the brain in ways that don’t involve a keyboard, a mouse or an ipad. Doing a jigsaw is one way to achieve that. Ravensburger may well be considered the champions of modern jigsaw puzzles, producing quality pieces that make up pictures of everything from Minions to Star Wars Rebels. We were sent a 100 piece Dinosaur xxl Jigsaw (suitable…

Brewers Fayre bring half term fun
Last week was half term in the UK, and, as parents looked for interesting ways to keep their children occupied, pub/restaurant chain Brewers Fayre launched a week of activity mornings. Children could enjoy a range of indoor fun whilst parents relaxed with a coffee, and then, once the morning was over, you were in the perfect place for a spot of lunch. I went along to the Walsall branch on Friday morning to check out the food and fun. My little boy Joe was not with me on Friday as he was enjoying a week of fun on a footie camp with the WBA Foundation. But I did have my…

A holiday wardrobe for Joe
In just three weeks time I will be getting really excited, and probably very flustered and panicked, as we make the final touches to our holiday packing. There is always that last minute fluster, have we got everything? Are we taking too many, or not enough clothes for two weeks? Will Joe, once again, wear every single thing in his case thanks to the devil that is melting ice cream? The answer is more than likely yes to all questions, but at least with Joe’s stuff the packing is easier to begin with as he will literally live in shorts and t-shirts for the whole of the two weeks. I…

Internet Safety – Internet Matters
Looking back, it seemed that when I was a little girl ‘safety’ was a word that was mainly applied to crossing the road, stranger danger and kids being in the kitchen. Computers were just beginning to take off and the internet was unheard of. These days are very different. Children are growing up in an internet age, and using computers, laptops and tablets bring a very specific set of threats and dangers that parents have to be aware of, and in control of. We want our children to be able to use and enjoy the web, our every day life is a mass of computer technology, and kids get so…
