A night at Benjamin Ryan Hair and Beauty
The Great Western Arcade is one of Birmingham’s gems. A beautiful Victorian shopping arcade, Great Western houses some of the best independent stores in the City. Last week it was host to a special Christmas shopping evening, which saw the Arcade become alive with the sound of a festive choir, and treated customers to special discounts and late night openings at all stores. Benjamin Ryan Hair and Beauty welcomed bloggers and fashion folk for a glass of bubbly and nibbles, and a look around the wonderful salon. Benjamin Ryan is one of Birmingham’s leading hair and beauty salons, offering a range of treatments that run from hair styling to Botox…

Friday Shopping – A bargain buy special
It’s almost Christmas, and so, true to form, I’m feeling rough. And for once, this has nothing to do with all the festive spirits on offer at numerous events. No this time it is due to a cold and a throat and chest infection I’ve been trying to fight off, unsuccessfully, all this week. And so, today’s post is short on words as my bed is once again calling me, and I am, for the umpteenth time this week, blogging in very warm, but sartorially challenged fluffy pyjamas. But fear not. Toy review – Slix Stunt City from Sainsbury’s
If you are looking for a present that will keep your little boys (or big boys come to mention it) happy, contented and occupied all over the Christmas period, you need look no further than Sainsbury ‘s. This year they have had an amazing collection of great value toys for children of all ages, and the Slix toys in particular have been the stuff that little boys (and some little girls too) dream of. I’m talking fast cars, stunt driving, and lots of crashes and smashes. I was sent the Slix Stunt City to review with Joe. Unfortunately, Joe has spent quite a bit of time over the last few…

Reviewed – Scarlett & Jo Purple Embellished Shift Dress
When you mention the name Scarlett and Jo to anyone, they automatically think of the ‘Powerfit’ dresses, those form-fitting, curve enhancing frocks that have a real feel of the Roland Mouret Galaxy dress about them. But there is more to Scarlett and Jo than just the powerfit, they have a great range of 1960s style dresses, prom queen styles and everyday tunics too. That’s why it is such a pleasure to be asked to review a different dress from the current range, the ‘purple embellished shift dress’. This is a showstopper of a dress, rich in colour and covered in beautiful, bugle bead embellishment. The shape is a retro 1960s…

Dancing Shoes inspired by Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly Come Dancing rules the Saturday night television in my house. I love everything about it. The mix of celebrities are perfect, the dances inspired, the costumes are never less than fabulous, and, of course I’m in love with the fabulous dancing shoes. The professional dancers and female contestants wear the most feminine and elegant shoes, often mid-heeled and Mary Jane style, and seem to (mostly) glide around the dance floor in effortless style. Maybe they have found the secret of the perfect shoe for causing ‘murder on the dance floor.’ (Bit of a Sophie pun there – sorry!) With the Christmas party season already beginning for some of us,…
