A Beefeater Christmas – Not a Turkey in sight

As much as I love turkey (and I really do) it comes to the point when you really feel like you’d be happy never to see another one ever again. That point usually comes for me sometime in mid December, long before we’ve even got to Christmas day, and is caused by a myriad of family, friends and blogger meals, all of which have the Christmas theme, the Christmas turkey and the Christmas pudding. Which is why I think the Beefeater Grill chain has it just right this year, with an alternative Christmas menu. We went along to the Longford House restaurant in Cannock to check it out before it…

Reviewed – Handmade Burger Co. at Grand Central Birmingham

The arrival of Grand Central Birmingham has meant the opening of lots of new eateries, selling a wide variety of different cuisines. On Sunday I was invited to check out on of those restaurants, the Handmade Burger Co, which offers one of the biggest selections of burgers I have ever seen. So, after Joe had made his football debut for Wyrley Rangers, and we were all suitably starving after a morning on the footie touchline, we made our way to my new favourite shopping centre to try out the handmade Burgers of the Handmade Burger Co. The restaurant is another that has that slightly industrial feel to it, with a…

A guide to European Food Festivals

Following on from my post last week looking at my favourite food places in Dubai (you can check out that post here) I have been sent a great infographic produced by Money transfer experts  CurrencyFair which is looking at the food of Europe in relation to national dishes, street food and their pick of the continent’s top restaurants. The infographic has taken every European country, from Albania to the United Kingdom, and then gives information that relates to food. This includes what you can expect to pay, per head, in restaurants, and what you can expect to pay in the chosen, highlighted restaurant (for the UK the suggestion is the…

Travelbag focuses on restaurants in Dubai

A quick question for you. On all the holidays you have enjoyed and all the places you have travelled to, where is the best place you have ever eaten? This could relate to travels in Europe, further afield, or in the UK? I have been lucky enough to do some travelling, visiting some stunning and spectacular places over the years, especially before Joe was born. I loved the exciting cuisine of the Far East, especially the street food that costs so little and yet tastes so good, but if I had to pick the best food that I had eaten whilst enjoying a holiday, I would have to say that…

    Brewers Fayre launch new Menu

When it comes to family friendly, affordable, eating out options, the Brewers Fayre chain is always near the top of the list. This Autumn, they have launched a new menu, along with a brilliant week day, daytime offering which runs from 12 – 6pm Monday to Friday. During this time diners can enjoy two starters for £2.50, two mains for just £10.99* and two desserts for £2.50, meaning you can enjoy a three course lunch for less than £20. Last week I went along to sample some of the dishes from the new menu at the Walsall branch of Brewers Fayre. This is one of the newer restaurants in the…
