    When Fashion-Mommy met Stella McCartney

Last week I had the most amazing email pop into the inbox. ‘Would I like to take part in a special question and answer session with Stella McCartney and the Vogue editor Alexander Schulman. This was taking place at Selfridges, London, as part of the Stella McCartney takeover to commemorate the launch of Stella’s new perfume, L.I.L.Y. So last Wednesday I took my seat in the fabulous Ultra lounge with a glass of champagne to listen to Stella musing all about fashion,  her wonderful career, and also a little bit about family life. Here are some selected highlights. On her starting points for her collections I take my last collection…

Stella’s fragrant tribute to Linda launches exclusively at Selfridges

They were one of music’s most iconic couples, the New York photographer and one-quarter of the most famous band in the world.  But in the world of Sex, drugs and rock and roll, the love of Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman was destined to be that rare thing, a romance that stood the test of time. And now, almost 14 years after Linda died from Cancer, her daughter Stella has launched a fragrant tribute to her parents love, L.I.L.Y, a beautiful eau de parfum that has launched exclusively at Selfridges this month. L.I.L.Y was Paul’s nickname for Linda, the letters standing for Linda, I love you. Lily of the Valley was also…

    In love with Lowie!

A few weeks ago I attended the Forward PR S/S press day and was introduced to the brand Lowie.  Lowie are an ethical knitwear/handicraft brand, who will branch into organic cottons for Spring/Summer 2012. I fell in love with the Lowie brand and, in particular, the riviera style nautical prints that will make up a large portion of their S/S collection. Lowie was started by Bronwyn Lowenthal 10 years ago. Since then, she has taken the brand from small market stores to the shelves of luxury department store Liberty’s. Lowie’s emphasis is handicrafts, bringing the likes of hand-knitting, crochet, hand-embroidery and hand-stitching into the 21st century as they are incorporated…

An interview with beauty Guru Sue Devitt.

Whilst Birmingham sweltered in the unseasonable heat last week, I was coolly ensconced in the beautiful personal shopping suite at Harvey Nichols where I had the pleasure of interviewing Sue Devitt. The Australian beauty guru has just introduced her wonder skincare and cosmetics exclusively to Harvey Nichols, Birmingham, and I had a chance to get the lowdown on the woman behind the brand, and her inspirational travels that have helped her develop her brand. Fashion-Mommy: Tell me a little bit about Sue Devitt. Sue: I’ve created a treatment based, colour brand. I worked for 8 years as an US based freelance make-up artist where I made up some of the…

Paloma Faith brings a forties flavour to La Senza this October

Saturday will see the launch of a very special underwear collection at La Senza. Designed by the singer Paloma Faith, this forties inspired collection will help raise funds and awareness as part of breast cancer awareness month. The collection has all the hallmarks of Paloma Faith. The gorgeous singer has a kooky, retro style that some love, some hate. I personally love her unique wardrobe and her individual take on fashion that embraces our fashion heritage, and the gardenia wearing torch singers of the past. So, for this collection for La Senza, you can cast all images of thongs and boy pants from your mind. Instead think back to the…
