Expedia World on a Plate
I was recently asked if I would be interested in taking part in a cookery challenge with Expedia. Called ‘World on a plate’, the project involved creating culinary delights based around the cuisine of a given European location. I was given Malta – a place that I have visited in the past and totally fell in love with. Malta is a small Mediterranean island with a interesting cuisine that seems to take it’s influences from both nearby Italy, with oily seafood and salads, and also Middle Eastern dishes, including Pastizzi Tal Pizelli, which is a sort of mushy peas pasty, and also comes in a variety filled with Ricotta cheese.…

Christmas gift ideas – Champagne and Spirits
Today I’m continuing the Christmas countdown with some gift ideas that never seem to disappoint. Yes, I’m talking about presents of the alcoholic kind. I always find that these are a great pick for the person who is difficult to buy for, as long as you know their tipple of choice, you have a pretty good chance of delighting the recipient of the gift. In addition, alcoholic gifts are great presents if you are buying for a couple, or a gift ‘from our house to yours’. A Beefeater Christmas – Not a Turkey in sight
As much as I love turkey (and I really do) it comes to the point when you really feel like you’d be happy never to see another one ever again. That point usually comes for me sometime in mid December, long before we’ve even got to Christmas day, and is caused by a myriad of family, friends and blogger meals, all of which have the Christmas theme, the Christmas turkey and the Christmas pudding. Which is why I think the Beefeater Grill chain has it just right this year, with an alternative Christmas menu. We went along to the Longford House restaurant in Cannock to check it out before it…

Adding Wine Cocktails to your Christmas Menu
It is no secret that I am rather partial to a cocktail or two. My absolute favourite is a traditional Mojito, although I also tried a strawberry version this summer and found that to be rather divine too. But when it comes to Wine based cocktails, I have to admit that Sangria aside, I’m a little bit in the dark. That might be why I totally love this Wine Cocktail infographic from Roberson Wine. It is made up of a whole range of fabulous cocktails that can be created using both red, Rose and white wine, and also has some variations on the classics, I mean, how utterly amazing does…

Great British Bake Off Inspiration for Christmas
It is officially the biggest programme of 2015, with 12.29 million viewers tuning into the final to see Nadiya Hussein crowned the well deserved winner. I can only be talking about the Great British Bake Off, the programme that makes stars out of star bakers, has made Mary Berry a fashion inspiration, and has made Paul Hollywood into a sex symbol (something I totally don’t get…but he does have Paul Newman eyes….if you squint!). A fabulous infographic by Bingo Find gives some of the facts and figures about the series that should be loved by aged grannies and spinster aunts, but is, in fact, loved by everyone, not least my…
