W.E. – It’s almost time for Wallis to Rule
The reviews aren’t exactly glowing, but I’m still very excited about Madonna’s new movie about the great love affair between Edward and Mrs Simpson. The film is released on 20th January, with Angela Riseborough playing Wallis, and from film stills and publicity shots I have seen pre-release, this is going to be a supremely stylish affair. Any film about the Duchess of Windsor is always going to feature fashion heavily. Clothes were important to Wallis, she believed that not being the most beautiful women in the world mattered far less if you were the best dressed. Wallis was always exquisitely turned out, favouring designers like Mainbocher and Schiaparelli, and having…

Kate at the Millies..So stunning in McQueen
I love velvet at Christmas, every year I dig out a vintage black velvet Laura Ashley skirt to wear over the festive season. It just seems the perfect fabric to wear at this time of year – luxurious, expensive and a little bit baroque. So I was overjoyed tonight to see the Duchess of Cambridge chose a black velvet Alexander McQueen gown for The Military Awards. This is definitely amongst my favourite Kate looks ever. The exquisite gown was strapless, with a fantail style hemline, and had a feel of Lady Diana Spencer at Goldsmith Hall in 1981 to it. Diana was criticised on that occasion for showing too much…

British Fashion Awards – The best Looks and how to get them.
The cream of the fashion glitterati turned out in force on Monday for the British fashion awards. Sarah Burton won a well deserved award for Best British Designer, with Victoria Beckham cementing her fashion status with her award for designer brand. My favourite shoe lady Charlotte Dellal won British Accessories award for her fantastic designers for Charlotte Olympia, and saw no less than Samantha Cameron sporting her red heels. But of course, what we really want to know is ‘what did everyone wear?’. Here are my favourite looks from the night. The ever-chic Victoria Beckham kept it simple with a self designed dress. I loved the pleated skirt, but think …

Made in Chelsea Caggie – an update
Since writing my last piece about Made in Chelsea, I have been overwhelmed by the interest in the trio of girls that I featured, but in particular the interest in Caggie Dunlop. Everyone seems to want to know where this girl gets her clothes from, or how they can get the Caggie look. I have also been emailed by companies suggesting their products for those who want Caggie’s style. So, here is a quick update on the Caggie look book. The gorgeous Grecian style dress that Caggie is wearing in the picture above is a High Street find from Mango. It is still available in sizes 8,10 and 12. This…

Art Deco style – The Ultimate Christmas Wish List…
I don’t mind admitting that I am a real Art Deco girl. In my dream world my house would have a flat roof and geometric edges,my colour scheme would be black and White and all my jewels would have previously been owned by Wallis Simpson in the 1930s. I love the Chrysler building, the Hoover building, Saltdean Lido, The Electric Palace on the Portobello Road and every single bingo hall converted from an Art Deco cinema. In short, I’m in love with Art Deco. Which is great this season, when there are 1930s influences to be found on a whole range of clothing, accessories and gift ideas. Here then, is…
