A night of Beauty at Harvey Nichols
Last week, Harvey Nichols in Birmingham was the scene of an old school beauty event, with all manner of skin and cosmetic treatments on the timetable. Beauty School dropout had a lessons in cosmetics from Benefit, Skincare from Space NK, and combined this with a tuck shop, a dress up box, and a real lesson in art from the super talented Milly Jackson. It was quite a night! The beauty lessons were informative and interesting, with the team from Benefit giving lots of advice including the importance of wearing primer under your make-up, and great tips on how to apply liquid eyeliner. An evening talking hair with Nicky Clarke
A few weeks ago, before all the excitement and the frenetic madness that was Style Birmingham Live, I attended another event that could only be classed as amazing. Hair maestro and all-round legend Nicky Clarke hosted an evening to celebrate the opening of his new salon in Birmingham’s Mailbox, and I was very lucky to receive an invite to the event. The new salon is a classy, glamorous affair, with lots of space to ensure you avoid the sometimes cramped, claustrophobic confines that can be a problem in small, hot salons. But now, with the click and collect service in place, Harvey Nichols Birmingham can now deliver the best of British design, from Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilincic, Roland Mouret and Christopher Kane. All these designers, and so many more, were represented in…

Harvey Nichols Birmingham unveils nostalgic windows
In these days when we seem to be loosing so much of our High Street Heritage, many of us are wallowing in the nostalgia of the Golden Age of the High street and the birth of the department store. We’ve seen the BBC series The Paradise and ITV’s Mr Selfridge, each gaining viewers enthralled by the beauty of the Department stores. And now, the iconic Harvey Nichols store based in Birmingham’s Mailbox has again unveiled a jaw dropping display of window dressing, transforming the facade of the store into a beautiful row of 1950s shop fronts. I think this is my favourite ever Harvey Nichols display, the pastel shades and…

Marie Curie Charity fundraiser at LK Bennett
Last Thursday, I was lucky enough to be invited to a very special style evening being held by the cancer charity Marie Curie at swish Birmingham Mailbox store LK Bennett. The event was being held to raise funds towards a the establishment of a family room at a new Midlands hospice, and Birmingham’s stylish ladies turned out in force to support the event. Glasses of Fizz and canapes helped to create a vibrant atmosphere as the guests were able to enjoy both the new collections and the great sale items from LK Bennett, whilst also buying heaps of raffle tickets that had some pretty amazing prizes, courtesy of the likes…
