Autumn television – All about Downton again.
I noticed it the other night when I was drawing the curtains before 9pm. It may still be August but the nights are already beginning to close in. And certain television events that remind us that Autumn is literally peering around the corner are almost upon us. Which is why now is a perfect time to check out the new BT broadband packages that are available, offering optimum opportunities for on-demand and catch-up TV, along with the best in high definition. Because, believe me, you are going to want the very best in viewing experiences for the Autumn programme. So, what have I got in my viewing schedule for the…

Westfield Merry Hill delivers for Kids this Summer
Summer can be a very expensive time for those with young children. Parents can either find themselves in the position of paying for childcare for six weeks, or face the uneviable task of trying to keep children occupied day-in, day-out. And whilst the sunny days can be passed relatively cheaply in local parks, the damp, drizzly and rainy days can prove costly. Teen Choice awards – My favourite looks
The Teen Choice awards are always an excuse for young Hollywood’s stars of television, music and film to have a bit of fun with fashion. This means we get to see a little too much skin, outfits sometimes more suited to the beach, and looks more akin to outfits chosen for ‘the mall’ or a barbecue than those you normally see on a red carpet. Here are my three favourite looks this year, and a few ideas on how you…

Homecoming Queen Style – Perfectly Pretty
One of the most long-lasting of all dress trends is for those that we call ‘Prom Dresses’. Every summer, at weddings, ladies days, regattas and other occasions that call for something a little bit special, we see a resurgence of those beautiful, full skirted, often strapless dresses that hark back to the last hurrah of Hollywood, the 1950s. Those were the days when screen goddesses like Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Doris Day chose feminine styles that have set the trend for prom and homecoming dresses for decades to come. But when we talk about prom dresses, we often mean homecoming dresses. Prom dresses were traditionally full length Princess style,…

Why staying in is the new going out.
I must be getting old! I used to be able to dance the night away, from dusk til dawn, and then get up and do a full days work. I used to like nothing more than a great night out, meeting friends, eating, drinking and frankly being merry. But now nothing makes me happier than a night in, with a great takeaway, a nice bottle of wine and something seriously good to watch on the TV. And I think the TV might just be the key to why I now enjoy this so much. Television now is a global event, opinions on TV programmes shared on Twitter in live time,…
