Duchess Kate – More Singapore looks to Savour

I have to say just how much I am enjoying the fashion odyssey currently being undertaken by the Duchess of Cambridge has she makes her way around Singapore. There have been no fashion recycled pieces yet, and with up to three changes of dress in a day, this makes exiting viewing for Kate watchers everywhere. The designer names she has worn so far are almost a who’s who of fashion at this moment, Jenny Packham, Prabal Gurung, Erdem, Alexander McQueen and Raoul have all been showcased to great effect, as the Duchess breezes through the unenviable task of looking stylish and keeping cool in very balmy conditions. (I went to Singapore and couldn’t stop the hair sticking to my head, so much Kudos to Kate for looking so effortlessly beautiful so far).

The first look yesterday was one of my favourite Kate pieces. A gorgeous broderie anglais design from Alexander McQueen, this 1950s belted dress utilized a cotton design and looked both elegant and crisp. My one moan would be the shoes – the navy wedges are great and probably very comfortable, but I think they look a bit heavy for this look -I would’ve love some nude strappy sandals instead.

 

You can get broderie anglais pieces quite cheaply now in the end of summer sales, and it is well worth picking up pieces as this is a timeless look that comes out of the wardrobe every summer. If you are going on a late holiday, just imagine this crisp, pure look against sunkissed skin – absolutely perfect!

Kate’s 2nd look yesterday was from rising international label Raoul. This was a gorgeous, floaty blouse and skirt in a retro style print that had great flashes of orange running through it.  The skirt had a slight pleat detail and again this seemed the perfect choice for the warm weather conditions – light as a feather and floaty. Both pieces were available on Matches, but as usual with anything Kate wears, they have now sold out!

 

Get the Look

Kate’s final look yesterday was a watered silk lined, pleated dress from Erdem. Again this dress had a decidedly oriental print, this time in soft blues, greys and occasional splashes of coral. I particularly loved the sleeve detail, which was semi sheer, and seemed to have been added to the original design of this dress (The Meryl) especially for Kate.
