Duchess Kate wears Prabal Gurung in Singapore
Just a day after I said that Prabal Gurung was perfect for Kate Middleton, she only goes and wears the designer during the first day of the tour of the Far Eat. Kate chose to wear the Singaporean designer during the stop in Singapore, a beautiful purple flowered design in Prabal’s classic long sleeved shape. Kate now joins the stylish ranks of Prabal fans that include Sarah Jessica Parker, Mila Kunis and Lana Del Rey.
I love that Kate, who doesn’t have a stylist, does her research and pays tribute to the places she visits by wearing a homegrown designer. And although some journalists and bloggers criticise this as style by numbers, it is, in fact, a mark of respect for the host nation, something she has picked up from her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales. The original design was much shorter than the one worn by the Duchess, but other than that, the design was pretty much the same, and was, quite frankly, gorgeous!
This sort of long sleeved shift dress is actually a perfect transitional piece from Summer to Autumn. Smart enough for work, dressy enough for a wedding, and edgy enough to attract attention, this is a great look that has a multitude of uses and so is a great item to have in your wardrobe. This is a look you can easily adapt with a variety of similar designs available on the High Street.
