My Friday Fashion focus today is on one of my favourite High Street stores, River Island. Most branches of the store are now open, with good social distancing measures put into place, and a really great sale now on, giving you the opportunity to enjoy some real rather than virtual shopping, and to grab a bargain as a bonus.
River Island always offers something a little different from the rest of the High Street, and this seasons offering is no exception. I love the smart tailoring of the blazers that are then shown over a more casual t-shirt for that 1980’s Miami Vice styling. Monochrome and dots bring to mind Chanel, but also have an 80’s feel, like the whole collection has been pulled from the wardrobe of Ines De La Fressange in her Chanel heydey.
River Island is well known for stylish accessories, and this season the handbags are again on point, with Versace like opulence and jewels that make them real statement pieces. These are the bags that need to be teamed with a simple jeans and a t-shirt combination so that they are the stars of the show.
River Island always does colour so well, and this Summer I am loving the zesty orange shades that are shown in the tops below. Statement sleeves are everywhere, and River Island has puffed styles and frills and flounces, again these would great with jeans or denim shorts.
One of my favourite items in the current range is this fabulous black and white blouse. It is a classic Summer look with gorgeous embroidered detailing on the yolk and pretty puffed style sleeves. Perfect for casual days, and a style that you will reach for for years and years.
Have you been to any actual stores since the lockdown ended? Have you grabbed any bargains yet?
