Oscars 2015 – My favourite looks
The most glittering night on the Awards calendar came and went with a whimper last night. The Oscars used to always be the ceremony where you were promised something wonderful and something wacky, and interesting night of true fashion and memorable looks that would stay in the fashion memory long after who had actually won had faded. But that was then.
The best way to sum up this year’s ceremony choices would be ‘safe’. There were plenty of ‘nice’ dresses, with both nominees and presenters looking elegant and pretty on the red carpet. My favourite looks included the uber glamorous Margot Robbie in a YSL dress that made her look like a modern day Charlotte Rampling, complete with vampy lips and a statement necklace. Rosamund Pike also looked spectacular in red Givenchy. She has had a bad award season in my view, and this was the dress I’d been longing for her to wear.
There was a distinct lack of colour on the red carpet, but some ladies did approach it in a series of successful looks. I loved Dakota Johnson in red YSL, it was a gorgeous dress, and I particularly loved the silver shoulder detail. Emma Stone divided opinions in Elie Saab, with some saying the dress was too old for her, and I can see Angelina opting for this one, but the colour and beading was superb, and I love anything with a low back.
Here are a selection of the dresses that I enjoyed on the night – with a couple that I sort of liked, including Jennifer Lopez, who wore a spectacular Elie Saab gown that I would’ve loved in any colour other than the dishwater she chose, and Lady Gaga, whose dress I loved – but what’s with the washing up gloves.

Yup, also pretty disappointed here! I did like Nicole Kidman’s look too, and thought that Anna Faris’ dress was soooooo pretty, I’ve been surprised to see it on a lot of ‘miss’ lists!

I liked it to, added it to my instagram page. Did like Nicole’s apart from the red ribbon bit!
