Ruffles and Frills – Romantic Fashion
One of the key trends for Spring/Summer 2017 is the frill/ruffle effect. This actually first appeared in Autumn/Winter, when boxy sweatshirts were given sweetly pretty frills across the front and sleeves that changed the look from boyish to girlie in an instant. This season, the frill effect is everywhere, from tops and sweaters, to jackets with bell shaped sleeves and dresses of all variety.
But before you look away, thinking that frills and ruffles are not for you, and that this must mean every colour as long as it is pink. Think again. This season it seems that anything goes when it comes to frills and colour, with a range of prints and bloc colour options out there. A key case in point is the metallic t-shirt from M&S which would work so well with a leather biker jacket for a look that is almost androgynous – perfect to dip into the trend if you want to avoid looking too girly.
The frill trend is, in fact, very versatile. The Wallis dotted dress would be gorgeous at a wedding, whilst the t-shirt style dresses just need Stan Smiths and a denim jacket to make them perfect everyday wear. Pretty blouses are a simple way to add a ruffle to a look, whilst the Self Portrait jumpsuit is a total showstopper – just add red lips and nails and you will dazzle any room.
Will you be wearing ruffles and frills this season? What do you think of the trend?

I love the playsuit!! I also like the pale blue dress. I have a wedding to go to this summer so I’m definitely liking this style to wear, I’m just not fond of white clothes in general as I tend to be a bit of a magnet for dirty marks!!

Oh my gosh! I am in love with the Sandro dress! If only I had the figure for it. I think I’ll play it safer with the stripey M & S dress.

I thought they wouldn’t suit me at all but I’m very pleasantly surprised after picking up a jumper with ruffles. Since then I have added so many lovely items to my wardrobe from this look and they are all gorge. Long may the ruffles last 😉

I love how some of those pieces are so stunning and not too frilly in the traditional sense. Great looks!
