Style Icons of the Year – Anna Friel’s Stage Door Style
Has any women since the London heyday of Tallulah Bankhead ever had the stage door style of Anna Friel? The actress, currently starring in Uncle Vanya at the Vaudeville, has mastered the art of looking totally captivating every evening as she leaves the theatre after her performance, in a series of immaculate, highly styled looks.
Anna’s stage door appearance is now as eagerly anticipated as her on stage one. Every evening, hoards of photographers wait to see what image and era she will be channelling next. There have been Pucci style mini dresses, and 1940s fur-trimmed coats. A risqué pink blouse exposed that Anna wasn’t wearing a bra, whilst her ultra modern and minimalist peg trousers and sweater show that Anna looks as great in up-to-date looks as she does in vintage garb.
Anna first established her Stage door style credentials when she played the Audrey role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and now she has it totally mastered. She changes the image each day, adds accessories that raise the interest level sky-high, and jeeps the make-up subtle and muted. Her stage door style is impeccable, and just makes you want to keep watching – a definite icon.

She’s certainly come a long way since Brookie! The full-length evening gown is a showstopper.

That is probably my favourite look, sort of Jackie Kennedy/Doris Day early 1960s.

Thank you. I love how she does that old style thing of always looking the star, even when going off duty.
