Reviewed – The Charlaine Leopard Print Sandals from K Jacques

I have a pair of sandals that I have been wearing to death lately. With a wooden heel and a glorious animal print leather design, they are both glamorous, elegant, and not only can I work in them, I can dance the night away. The shoes in question are the Charlaine Leopard Print sandals from the Saint Tropez company K Jacques, who have been producing hand made, bespoke shoes and sandals since 1933.

K Jacques often have an association with the most stylish of sandals, with their designs beiing worn by the likes of Kate Moss, Emma Watson, Diane Kruger and Cheryl Cole. Their leather and suede designs, and the fact that they can be totally customised to your own taste, makes them a popular choice for stylish trendsetters. But K Jacques are not just about beach ready designs, their heeled sandals are also perfect for weddings, cocktail hour and formal evenings, as I think my designs prove.

I totally love animal prints, so a brushed leather print was always a must for me. I think they can be worn with so many different colours and even worn with print for a stylish clash. The Charlaine, which retails at 390euros is a classic design, with a slight retro 1970s feel. I did size up to a 6 and these are really comfortable and a great fit.

I have been wearing my sandals a lot, I think they look great for parties and formal occasions, and yet they work well with casual dress too. I also think they rock with a red toenail (Gitane from Chanel for information) and because they are comfortable, they allow for more than just a walk in and out of a restaurant. I’ve ran for a train in these sandals, and danced the night away at a party – which is pretty impressive considering they have a heel.

K Jacques sandals have style and quality in abundance, along with that certain something that is unmistakably French.

Next shoes ‘point’ the way this season

This season, it seems it may be time to turn your back on those cute, round toed shoes. Safe and pretty they may be, but this season it seems the emphasis is on making a point. Pointed toes with a dangerous and sexy edge are making their presence felt, and whether you opt for flats, skyscraper or kitten heels, or even a wedge, it seems your toes have to be coming to a point.

Next have recently launched ‘The Shoe Room’ on their fabulous website, and have a whole section dedicated to points. Taking a look at The Shoe Room is a bit like walking into the Haribo factory if you have a sweetie fetish, you are quite literally spoiled for choice when you try to choose just one pair. (I dare you to try.)

There are animal print designs (my current wish list fave.), metallics of all shades, snake effect boots, hot pink suede, floral print courts, glittery flats..I could literally go on and on. The range is wide, the quality is great, and the prices are the usual Next value. ‘The Shoe Room’ is certainly one place I wouldn’t mind being stranded in overnight (topical note there for the man stranded in Waterstones.). Imagine having a Carrie Bradshaw moment with all those shoes…

These are some of the shoes that I would personally love to be unwrapping on December 25th this year, I’d love to know if you have a particular favourite pair. Maybe you don’t do pointed toes at all? Would love to know your thoughts.

I can’t resist animal print shoes!

There was a time when I hated any sort of animal print with a passion. All it conjured up in my mind was tacky images of Bet Lynch behind the bar of the Rovers Return, resplendent in beehive and leopard print, closely followed by another corrie legend, Liz MacDonald, another classy, brassy looker.

But those animal print hating days seem a long time ago now. These days I love any sort of animal print or skin. from leopard and cheetah, to zebra prints and even a little bit of snake. This has become the chicest of prints, whether you wear it in your clothing, or just keep it for shoes and accessories.  Celebrities like Kate Moss and Sienna Miller are all partial to a touch of animal in their wardrobe, whilst Jessie J has shown a cheetah print dress can actually be surprising classy. I love the elegant Blink court shoe, with the black-capped toe and faux leopard print, which I think would be the perfect complement to a little black dress, whilst the Clarks Diva Dolly now have a £10 reduction, making them a classic bargain.
