M&Co – A fabulous Festive Offering

I love that time of year when the shops suddenly become all sparkly and glittery, and we start to think about the real party season. Yes, Christmas is on its way, and as much as we are thinking about presents, we are also turning our minds towards our wardrobes.  Because Christmas is the one time of the year it is actually encouraged to be as bright and sparkling as a Christmas tree, and the seasonal offerings from our favourite stores echo this fact.

For a spot of Sunday shopping this week, I’m turning my attention to M&Co. They have started to promote their party shop and it is chocked full of beautiful pieces that will enhance your wardrobe. With some great petite pieces in store at the moment, as well as the mainline range, M&Co are giving you the opportunity to shine, but to also be true to your signature style. If you love your glamorous dresses, they have Temperley inspired embroidery, and full skirted prom dress styles to embrace that inner Grace Kelly. But there are also beautiful tops that could dress up your jeans if you prefer your style more low key, and glittery shrugs that could give you a sparkly daytime look.

Here are some of my key picks… and maybe a bit of inspiration.

Olympic Closing Ceremony – Spice Girls and the Supers

The most amazing two weeks I can remember has now come to an end, and we are left with just wonderful memories. But what memories! And for fashion fans, there was a final, unforgettable treat with the reformed Spice Girls, and the stunning appearance of the British Supermodels dressed in an array of gold outfits which showcased the best of British design.

The Spice Girls whipped up a storm, performing two of my favourite Spice tracks – ‘Wannabee’ and ‘Spice up your Life’. All the girls looked fabulous and age defying, but Victoria was probably the pick of couture wearing a beautiful trained dress from Giles Deacon. Geri gave a cheeky nod to that Union Jack dress with a flag style bustle on the back of her strapless red dress. Mel B revisited the catsuit in a sparkly number from Zuhair Murad, whilst Emma Bunton looked like Bardot in a futuristic pink number which showed she is far away from being a baby. Mel C looked chic in a white catsuit that updated her sporty status in a most elegant way.

I must confess I squeled when I heard the strains of David Bowie’s fashion and realised the supermodels were on their way. A line up that included Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson and Georgia May Jagger amongst its number, all dressed in the most exquisite gold outfits, was a breathtaking sight, and one which elevated the ceremony to the realms of fashion folklore. My picks were the ageless Kate Moss, who sparkled like an Oscar in Alexander McQueen, and Georgia May Jagger representing the new generation in Victoria Beckham.

Reviewed – Rimmel 1000 kisses

I love lipstick. I adore people who can get away with that glossy red lipped look without looking like a clown, basically girls like the gorgeous faces of Rimmel, Kate Moss and Georgia May Jagger. Unfortunately I’m one of those people who just cannot carry lipstick off to any advantage, I feel naked  without mascara, but stick to a nude lip most of the time.

But when Rimmel asked if I would try out their new 1000 kisses, I must admit to being very intrigued. Because 1000 kisses isn’t a lipstick as such. Instead it is a lip tint which comes complete with a lip balm to add protection and softness to the lips. It also promises to be transfer proof, meaning that it can last throughout the day so you can kiss as many people as you like without leaving a red smudged trace.

I tried the ‘Stay Very Berry’ shade which is a lovely dark pink. This is definitely darker than I would normally wear, especially in the day, but I really wanted to test the 12 hour claim, so I tried it out on a very busy day when I wouldn’t  have much time for reapplying make up.

The first thing I loved about it was the fact that the applicator is just like a little marker pen. This makes life so much easier if you are one of those people (me) who struggle to apply lipstick or tints without using a brush. You quite literally colour in your lips! The tint has a gorgeous berry scent and flavour that does make licking your lips a problem, but you should definitely not do this as you need the tint to dry before you apply the balm.

Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Tint £6.99

Once your lips are dry, apply the balm. Don’t do this too quickly as the tint will then ‘tint’ the balm, so to speak.  The balm feels lovely over the lip tint, leaving your lips feeling really soft and conditioned. But it is the sheen which is the most impressive, your lips literally shine – it’s a very glam look.

And so to the important question, does 1000 kisses do what it says on the packet? Actually, yes it does. Once the lips are dry there was hardly any transference on cups, glasses or onto my little boys cheek. The tint  is also long-lasting, although I didn’t actually time it for 12 hours, it definitely lasted most of the day.  At just £6.99, I think this is a good little bargain product to add to your cosmetic collection.
