Shoes – These are a few of my favourite brands

When it comes to choosing my favourite shoes, I must admit that I admire a great many brands. Certain companies seem to excel in producing a certain sort of shoe, and so when you are choosing new shoes, it pays to go to an expert. For classic Mary Jane styles, I always look to Hush Puppies, who take the sensible heel and strap and then add colour and a retro-inspired elegance to them. When looking for a flat shoe that offers comfort with chic ballerina styling I look to French Sole, beloved by Kate Middleton, and certainly more reasonably priced than Pretty Ballerina’s (which I also love incidentally, but my bank balance isn’t quite so keen).

For an elegant riding boot screaming of English Heritage, it is hard to look beyond Barbour, well-known for their wax jackets, but also behind some of the best boots on the market. And if you want your shoes to be the talk of the town, real show-stoppers, then Irregular Choice is your first, and only stop.

It’s definitely boot weather!

Oh my goodness it’s cold! It may not even be November yet, but last week the weather took a decidedly chilly turn and went very, very COLD! And with lots of great outdoor events on the way, it is definitely the right time to invest in a pair of boots.

Think about it, Halloween, Bonfire Night, great Christmas markets (already getting so excited about the German Christmas Market in Birmingham…coming very soon), Carol Singing, all that Christmas shopping…all of these fab events take part outdoors, and you spend an awful lot of time on your feet, so boots are a very stylish and practical option when choosing footwear.

Wynsors World of shoes are a great one stop shop when looking to choose a great pair of winter boots. They have great, well-known ranges from the likes of Hush Puppies and Rocket Dog that offer value and comfort as well as great looking boots, but Wynsors also offers some absolute bargain boots from lesser known labels that cost less than £25. They also offer a range of heels and flat styles, and fabrics from leather to suede so you can choose the perfect style, shape and texture for you. And, if all else fails and the snow comes in, they also have some rather cute wellies at bargainous prices.

Here are some boots that have caught my eye.

Spartoo – My top five shoe picks for the new season

Spartoo never lets me down when I’m looking for new shoes. And as it is easier to update your wardrobe for a new season by adding some new accessories, this is always an online September stopping point. I know I will find daytime styles that offer comfort teamed with an hardworking, hard-wearing ethos, but in the sort of pretty package that I demand. But I also know that I will be bowled over by some of the prettiest, glitziest party shoes out there. And I know I will succumb – because I can never resist shoes!

So, here are my top five current picks from Spartoo’s enormous range. Let me know what you think of my choices.

I’m totally in love with these amazing Leopard shoes from Edith & Ella.  I love the idea of wearing these on the school run, with jeans and a chunky knit. The loafer style gives them a hint of a more casual look, but that heel adds an element of sophistication that means you will get lots of use out of them – making them a great investment buy.

Glamorous shoes are an absolute must in your Autumn/Winter wardrobe, especially when all those seasonal party invites start to drop through the letter. I adore the shiny grey Colleen heels from Buffalo, which are just ultra glamorous. With a slight platform, these are the sort of shoes that Kate Middleton swears by, as they are more comfortable than a traditional stiletto.

With burgundy and berry shades a huge story this season, the Lolita Ghillie lace ups from Hush puppies are an amazing mixture of style and comfort. The colour is just gorgeous, but the shoes retain the inner comfort soles that Hush Puppies have long been renowned for.

The Ravel Kingdom shoes are currently residing at number one position on my wish-list. These are simply divine. In nude, but with contrasting silver sparkle, Ravel have taken a colour  combination I would never have even considered, and made it an absolute winning party shoe.

Also from Ravel, and also inducing shoe lust in me is the Kennedy flat. This again is a combination of print and shine, with a leopard print toe detail combined with sparkling gold. Perfect for adding glitz to an everyday outfit, or teaming with your little black dress when you want to save your feet from dancing shoe pain!
