An End Of Sale Bargain Dress From Lovedrobe

As one season ends, you can really find some exceptional sales bargains, particularly when Summer hasn’t been as good as we would’ve wanted. Sales can be a minefield for those who impulse buy, you can end up buying a lot of fashion trends that you then don’t wear, but for savvy shoppers you can get pieces that can work transitionally into the next season, or are worth keeping for your next holiday or for next Summer.

A case in point is Lovedrobe, who have some amazing sales bargains at the moment. One such bargain is the Lovedrobe GB Black Poppy Print Cold Shoulder Maxi Dress, which comes in sizes 14-30 and is now half price at just £19. A beautiful Spanish style dress with more than a touch of flamenco about it, this is a stunning gown with a Bardot style off the shoulder look but with shoulder straps too,

The print of this dress is classic and would definitely work as a transitional piece, it is actually quite a dark choice for Summer and is much more suited to Autumn, where it could be worn layered over a polo neck or a long sleeved t-shirt for a bohemian look. The fact that it is fully lined also makes it warmer than you might think.

There are a few things you need to be aware of with this dress. The first is that the style is soft and flowing which means you could size down. I chose a size 16, but a 14 would definitely have been a better fit for me, so I decided to add a belt and that felt much more my style. The second is that the dress is long. I’m 5ft 7 and without a shoe with a heel, this touched the floor. I added a pair of 1940s style red wedges which worked perfect, so unless you are very tall, you will need to add some height in order to keep the dress off the floor.

Friday Fashion – Lovedrobe Stripe Print Bardot Top

There are certain fashion trends that make a comeback after a period in the fashion wilderness, and then decide to stick around. Maxi dresses are one such trend, kimono jackets are another,  and now it seems we must add Bardot tops to the list. They made a reappearance last summer, and show no signs of leaving us, with High Street Stores and online shops full of a range of designs that all have one thing in common, they show our shoulders off to fabulous effect. And this is the major plus point of the Bardot top, because many of us will say we hate our arms, our tummies and our legs, but most of us have no problems with our shoulders.

Lovedrobe has a brilliant range of Bardot tops that show just why this sexy look is one suitable for everyone. Their range comes in sizes 16-30 and shows that this is a style that is as good on a plus size figure as it is on a slimmer physique. Lovedrobe have taken the trend, and have added beautiful flounced sleeves to it, perfect for those who hate their arms. They have also made the tops a little longer, covering up those problem tummy areas and making their tops so good teamed with skinny jeans. Their prints are also unusual and beautiful – in short, this is a range that is a total winner.

The Lovedrobe GB Womens Plus Size Stripe Print Strappy Bardot Blouse With Crochet Cuffs is just one of the beautiful Bardot designs that is making Lovedrobe such an exciting brand this Summer. It combines so many elements, from lace cuffs, to an almost business like blue pinstripe, and the addition of shoulder straps too for those who don’t want to feel too exposed. The pretty floral print raises this up – there are lots of pinstripes around this season, but adding a delicate floral print makes this top feel very feminine and pretty.

The lace cuffs give this a sort of vintage feel, and the elastication around the shoulders is comfortable rather  than tight fitting. The fabric is a silky feeling polyester, so many of these styles of top are in cotton, so this is a nice alternative.

As previously mentioned, the top is cut slightly longer which makes it great with jeans, but I have worn mine tucked into a denim skirt and I think that this works well too.  I picked out the red of the print with my shoes, dead ringers for Swedish Hasbeens, but actually charity shop finds that were originally from Tu. (Less than £5). This season’s choker necklaces also work so well with the Bardot style.

Floral Embellished Skater Dress from Lovedrobe

There are some dresses that make you feel like a princess when you wear them. Really beautiful, romantic dresses with embellishment and beading, the sort of pretty floaty gowns that you can see a celebrity wearing for a red carpet event. The floral embellished Skater Dress from Lovedrobe is just one of those dresses. It would be a wonderful pick for a special event – a party, a prom or a wedding, but it is also very easy and comfortable to wear. To put it simply, I adore this dress.

This is a truly beautiful dress. The bodice is heavily embellished with decorative floral beading and sequins in gold and silver, this contrasts beautifully against the nude colour of the dress. The beading also extends to the sleeves, but because the skirt is plain it avoids looking like something from Dynasty – sometimes the worry with heavy beading, when the look you are aiming for is classy not cabaret.

The skirt is a beautifully floaty chiffon, but with a thicker underlayer to give the skirt a slight skater shape. There are also soft pleats coming from the waistband that again help to create an illusion of shape, rather than allowing the dress just to drop. The skirt is knee length on me, preferable to the shorter skater styles in my opinion. (The dress is 40inches in length).

The dress fastens with a zip up the back that leads to a slight V back detail. As the embellishment also continues around to the back of the dress I think you need to keep accessories and jewellery to an absolute minimum. I teamed it with rose gold shoes and although I would love to ditch the tights, the weather just wasn’t warm enough to do this.  I left off all jewellery, and would add a very plain clutch bag to finish this look.

I cannot rave about this dress enough, the style, shape and colour all worked perfectly for me, and I think it proves that skater styles are not just for the teenage market.
