Grammy fashion – Who made the grade.
The Grammy’s is always interesting in fashion terms (who could ever forget Gaga arriving in an egg?), but this year there was a sombre cloud hanging over the proceedings, following the death, just hours earlier, of Grammy winning superstar Whitney Houston. But the show did go on, and there was one undoubted winner on the night, both in the music and style stakes. Adele looked so beautiful in a Giorgio Armani black shimmering gown, with long sleeves and a slightly low back. Her hair was lighter and fixed in 1950s movie star waves. Zara Taylor London – My picks.
I was recently invited to choose some pieces from the fabulous jewellery collection of Zara Taylor London. For those not familiar with the brand, Zara Taylor jewellery is full of beautiful, vintage inspired pieces that incorporate vintage beads and stones into new designs. Many are made using original tools to help replicate antique pieces from a bygone age. I love the designs, which just scream originality, and I’m in good company. Celebrity fans include Taylor Swift, Jessie J, and the girls from Made In Chelsea. When Kerry Katona entered the Big Brother House, she was wearing a Zara Taylor design. Met Ball revisited – Good dresses.
The New York Costume Institute’s annual gala is THE fashion event of the year. Wall to Wall with stunning gowns and glamorous make-up, this is the one event that no fashionista wants to miss. This year the ball was a tribute to the late, great Alexander McQueen, with the Savage Beauty exhibition of his fabulous gowns opening at the Met. Of course, this meant a range of beautiful McQueen gowns on show, but many other designers were showcased too, with Stella McCartney having a very busy Met ball. Harvey Nichols Fashion Show – Not long to wait now!
The starriest front row in Birmingham’s style calendar, along with the hottest trends by the Key designers for the coming season! That is a good description of the Harvey Nichols Fashion Show. The show will take place on Tuesday 1st March and Wednesday 2nd March in the glamorous setting of the Birmingham store, based in the beautiful Mailbox. Guests will be treated to a catwalk show unveiling the new Spring/Summer 2011 collections. Designer ranges from Dolce and Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, DKNY and Alexander McQueen, now under the auspices of Sarah Burton, will all be included in the fashion show.
