Cannes – Best looks from 2017

Cannes is always the most glamorous and elegant of all the film festivals, I would go as far as to say it is the most fabulous event on the fashion calendar, it is certainly my favourite. This year was a vintage Cannes for style watchers, with appearances by judge and style icon Nicole Kidman, Diane Kruger, Elizabeth Olsen and Lily Collins. In addition, there was an appearance by style maverick Tilda Swinton (who basically slayed in a series of classic looks) and a whole raft of supermodels, including Sara Sampio, Bella Hadid (another lady having a knockout Cannes), Kendall Jenner and veteran Amber Valleta.

The dresses ranged from the slinky to fairytale, and the daytime looks were not to be sniffed at either, with Emily Ratajkowski showing that a little black dress can never go wrong. I also totally fell in love with Lily Collins daytime ensemble which combined a fitted skirt with a striped, one sleeved top. And, shades of green had a moment, with Nicole Kidman in a dress that called to mind a beautiful peacock, and Tilda Swinton in a 1940s style two piece suit that screamed sophistication.

Did you have a favourite outfit from this year’s Cannes? Who’s style caught your eye?

For Art or Fitness: Celebrities Who Have Made Dramatic Physical Transformations

Celebrities are well known for keeping in shape and making changes to their physiques, sometimes as a result of wanting to look better, and sometimes for a specific purpose like a movie role. Here are some of the most dramatic transformations of 2015.

Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton, star of the hit TV show The O.C., was photographed at the end of 2014 with a much larger figure than she had previously been known for. But just a few months later, she was snapped again looking completely different after shedding a lot of weight. The first photographs had snapped her dressed in gym wear, so it looks like her visits to the gym paid off.
Jake Gyllenhaal

Not all physical transformations involve losing weight. For his role in the movie Southpaw, Jake Gyllenhaal put on an incredible 30 pounds to play boxer Billy Hope. At one point he was working out for six hours a day to pile on the muscle—and it shows.
Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton looked almost unrecognizable when she appeared in the movie Trainwreck this year. This involved putting on some weight, and the actress also spent a number of hours applying makeup each day, and she even used a wig.

Sam Smith

Sam Smith lost a lot of weight in 2015 after working with a nutritionist who has put him onto a much healthier diet. Check out his Instagram account to see the results.
Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd is another actor who made a big commitment for a movie role. Before starring in Ant-Man, Rudd stopped eating carbs and did not drink any alcohol for a year. He also started up an intense workout to get into shape for the role, and the results were clear to see.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner is the youngest member of the Kardashian family, and she has been photographed looking very different lately. According to MoviePilot, she has admitted to using lip fillers, and this has played a role in changing her appearance over the last year.
Want to Make a Dramatic Physical Change Yourself?

If you want to make a big change to how you look, dieting and exercise are usually the first options. However, you may want to make changes to your appearance that are not possible through dieting alone. In this case, you may want to consider plastic surgery.

Whether it’s a rhinoplasty to change the shape of your nose, or a tummy tuck to get rid of some excess skin, speak to a professional at a surgery like and find out what your options are.
Make 2015 a Year of Change

As some of these celebrities have demonstrated, it does not always have to take a long time to make a large change to how you look. This can be the case with losing weight, and it is especially true with plastic surgery. If you want to change your appearance, consider your options and then make 2015 the year when you reach your goals.

Baftas fabulous fashion – How to get the look.

The bright and beautiful of Hollywood took a trip across the pond for the BAFTAS on Sunday evening, bringing some pretty serious fashion statements with them. Michelle Williams, Jessica Chastain, Meryl Streep and (swoon! swoon!) George Clooney all took a trip down the red carpet, being accosted by a Louis Vuitton clad Miss Piggy on route. There was also a strong showing from the Brit contingent, with Emilia Fox, Tilda Swinton and honorary Brit Gillian Anderson   shining on a rather cold winters night. Here are my personal favourites from the night.

Michelle Williams drew gasps when it emerged that her classic gown was from H&M. The whole look was one of understated elegance, a monochrome palette with a colour pop of red lips. Some have said it was a little bit ‘so what’, but I don’t understand this. Michelle looked beautiful – end of story.

Jessica Chastain continued her run of great looks with this Marilyn Monroe style Sunray pleated gold dress from Oscar De La Renta. Gold was a great colour for the gorgeous redhead, although I would’ve ditched the draped chain necklace for something shorter.

Christina Hendricks proved yet again that no-one dresses a curvy figure like Vivienne Westwood. I loved the black stain fabric and the flattering neckline, but the hairdo was a little bit messy. Still, my husband took one look and said ‘she is  just beautiful’ and I frankly couldn’t agree more.

Honorary Brit Gillian Anderson looked so pretty in a strapless yellow dress by Sybil. I think this dress has a real Christian Dior feel, circa 1955, and the use of chandelier earrings to accessorise was the perfect touch.

Another beautiful lady taping  into the lush lemon trend was Naomie Harris, who looked ethereal in a floaty gown by Emilio Pucci. Naomie is soon to be a new Bond girl, and she showed why she is the perfect choice on the red carpet. I loved how springlike this dress is, really pointing towards warmer days.

A few more looks I liked

Emilia Fox wore a vintage style gown from Luisa Beccaria that really reminded me of something that Florence Welch would wear. I thought the burnished, antique gold looked great against her red hair. I was also impressed that she wore a tiered dress that avoided looking like it should cover a toilet roll.

Luxury Lace Dress £165.00

Tilda Swinton looked statuesque in this simply divine column dress by Celine. It has been called boring, but I think people are missing the point. When you have bone structure as amazing as Tilda, you can get away with the divine simplicity of a dress like this. That said, I am over the Elvis quiff now.

In the same way that Rihanna seems to be bringing sexy back (HAVE YOU SEEN THAT GRAMMYS DRESS?), Viola Davis is bringing pretty back. On red carpet, after red carpet, she looks bright and beautiful, and now she is taking part in Livia Firth’s red carpet challenge, wearing a custom-made, salmon pink eco dress from Valentino. Saving the planet frankly never looked so good!

There were some looks that I hated.Edith Bowman turned up in what looked like a dodgy 70s wedding dress, whilst her Radio One friend Fearne Cotton looked like she was wearing a 1970s salmon pink nightdress, and has for the candy floss hair, it was just too much. The usually reliable Octavia Spencer resembled a black tie event waitress in her Tadashi Shoji ruffled skirt and white shirt a la Sharon Stone.

So, what did you think? Who were your favourites on the night? Leave a comment and let me know.
