Kate wears Whistles to visit National Gallery
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Gallery today, as the first official portrait of the Duchess was unveiled. Kate looked blooming and beautiful in a gorgeous Whistles dress that had been previously seen in 2012. There was just the slightest hint of a baby bump, but for once, the discussions that raged following the visit were not about the Duchess’s pregnancy. The discussions, many of them totally hilarious, focused on the portrait by Paul Elmsley. It is, quite frankly, hideous. Kate leaves US with a flash of High Street Style.
And so the Royal tour has ended, and Kate has been stylishly triumphant. On her last day in the US, she visited Skid Row, indulged in a touch of painting, and met a starstruck Reece Witherspoon. Phew! Kate looked amazing, as ever in an outfit from High Street store Whistles. This time, one of Kate’s purchases was the ‘Kate’ blouse, the £125 blouse that Kate wore on the engagement photographs by Mario Testino, which has recently been reissued by Whistles. There has been much amusement about the fact that Kate has bought a blouse she already owns, but I can’t see what the fuss is about. I often buy things I like and feel comfortable in again, and Kate may well have been buying this for someone else (Kate and sister Pippa seem to have similar tastes…).…

Kate Middleton – The clothes recycler.
Lately there has been much talk in the media about Kate Middleton’s recycling of old outfits for official and social occasions, and for her loyalty to the British High Street. Kate has been criticised for using clothes from previous seasons, including that Reiss dress and Whistles blouse, rather than using new designs that could give a boost to the British Fashion industry. She has also faced flack for mainly sticking to High Street brands, albeit High quality ones, rather than opting for a designer option. Even the ever-sensible Vogue editor Alexandra Schulman has waded into the debate, stating in the March issue that she hopes “…the current recession doesn’t drive…
