The SAG Awards 2015 – The Key Looks
I sat up late last night, with the TV switched to the E! Channel, ready for ‘Live from the Red Carpet’ coming direct from the SAG Awards. I must admit I love the SAG Awards as the style is usually a little more laid back than other Awards season events, with celebrities more likely to take a bit of a risk. But for the first hour last night, I was bored, and a bit horrified by the style on display.
There were just so many ill-fitting dresses, in materials that could only be described as highly-flammable looking. Ladies who I usually hold in high esteem, like the gorgeous Julianna Margulies, chose amazing colour, but styles that just did not impress. Another favourite lady, Claire Danes continued her disappointing awards season with a strange, army fatigue style dress from Marc Jacobs, complete with a pointless, canvas looking belt. Just not good.
But then the good dresses arrived. My personal faves were a flawless Reese Witherspoon in a slinky white gown, Julianne Moore – who I think should always wear green, and the super pretty florals chosen by Natalie Dormer. Emma Stone and Lupita Nyong’o were again risk takers, both of their risks paid off for me, although others may disagree. And I love how navy was most definitely the new black, even if ‘Orange is the new black’ was one of the night’s big award winners.
What was your favourite look of the night? Maybe you liked a look I haven’t featured here? Is anyone impressing you this award season? Would love to know your thoughts.
