Why I still love shopping from a catalogue
When I look back and try to decide where my interest in fashion came from, I find it very easy to give an answer. It was the Kays catalogue! In the early 1980s my mom always used to shop from catalogues, and Kays was her absolute favourite. It was always an exciting moment when the new one was delivered encased in its box and I don’t mind admitting that I savoured every page and would look through it over and over again. Selfridges Christmas – Journey to the Stars
Christmas in July has been and gone, with Selfridges once again pushing the boundaries when it comes to unusual Christmas campaigns. This year the theme is a mystical, celestial one, with the title being ‘Journey to the Stars’ and the focus being the Christmas star, linking collections to astronomy, astrology and spirituality. Fun and Laughter from The Three Little pigs in Birmingham
It started with an X Factor style intro, and ended with a good old singalong between the sworn enemies the pigs and the wolf, and it was total fun and laughter in between. I’m talking about the fun new reworking of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ that has been playing at Birmingham Town Hall this week, with a star turn by Birmingham’s own Simon Webbe. We all know the story, but it is fun seeing it bought to life by the an engaging and talented cast. The piggies show their charactors early on, Daniel Buckley is clever and kind, Leanne Jones is concerned with the environment, whilst Taofique Folarin is strong…
