Aegon Classic ladies Day – Fashion, Fizz and Umbrellas
There was rain of frankly Biblical proportions, which unfortunately did stop play, but it certainly didn’t halt the style of the Aegon Classic ladies Day in Birmingham last week, the day had it in spades. From House of Fraser pop-up stores showcasing Biba and Mary Portas designs, to local heroine Lisa Shepherd on hand offering style advice and hair rescue for those who locks had been lashed by the rain, the stylish ladies of Birmingham were offered pampering that sat nicely alongside the almost compulsory jugs of Pimms.
Leading the style parade was the gorgeous Michelle Heaton, the face of the Aegon Classic Ladies Day for 2013. She wore a stunning peach lace gown that showed off her amazing figure to perfection. Smiling and chatting and posing for lots of photographs, Michelle was the perfect embodiment of the fun of ladies day, and a great ambassador for the Aegon chosen charity partner, Ladies fighting Breast Cancer.
Another lady bringing a touch of glamour to the proceedings was the lovely ITV presenter and weather girl Lucy Kite. Lucy was filming the live weather report for the Midlands at the classic, and looked amazing in a white dress that she told me was from Zara.
There were lots of other guests who were gloriously dressed, many wearing the beautiful hats and fascinators of the Midlands leading milliner, Sally Harper Kenn of Sharper Millinery. Here are a few of my favourite looks.

The highlight of the day was a gorgeous fashion show that was the perfect showcase for some of the Midlands leading brands, from the gorgeous dresses of The Wedding Club and nominees from The Midland Fashion Awards, the glitz and bling of Emporium England and Terry Terry, and then those amazing head wear pieces from Sharper Millinery. The fashion show was transferred indoors due to the ever persistent rain, but it certainly brightened up the day, and the sun amazingly appeared soon afterwards.
